I noticed on Amazon people who buy gun safe also buy small dehumidifiers for them. Is this necessary in a gun safe? I just got a safe.

I use a Goldenrod heater bar in the bottom of my safe and a desiccant in the top.
it is much safer and cheaper to prevent rust for low cost.

Edit: I assume you got a multi-gun fireproof safe, not an open locker or one-gun lockbox.

Me too.

Me three. Living on the coast I was getting too much moisture in my safe without the desiccant.

I use some Remington dehumidifier, it does the job.

It's a good idea to use one of whatever brand in your safe to help prevent rust.

Thanks guys.

To answer your question I just got this one for now (Ive yet to buy my first gun) Barska Biometric safe Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/BARSKA-Quick-Access-Biometric-Rifle/dp/B005FDIUPE/ref=sr_1_5?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1446712613&sr=1-5&keywords=barska+biometric+safe)

I got it for a good price off a member of Calguns in like new condition.

Its quite small but I dont intend (intend being the key word) on getting more than a couple of pistols, and AR-15 and maybe a 12 gauge. And not all at once either.

There is some good mods people in the amazon reviews where showing.. One guy added and LED strip that could be any color you wanted using a remote but he had it wired to a sensor so it would come on when opening, im looking for a similar LED strip that has a built in sensor but having a hard time finding one any recommendations guys? I can find LED lights with motion sensor but not strips.

Also does anyone know what this guy is using to mount the mags etc to his door in this pic?

Thanks

Do you mean get one the same brand as safe?
