View Full Version : Odd PPT question...

A friend of mine asked me a question I didn't know the answer to the other day. Apparently my buddy wants to buy a revolver from his boss. His boss originally got the gun back in '86 or '87 as payment in trade for some work done. There was obviously never any DROS or any other paperwork done back then. Does this guy need to do any paperwork or anything before he can PPT the gun to my friend?

No. The current owner does not need to have the handgun registered or show any proof of ownership. They can just go to the Dealer and do the PPT. The boss will need to bring his California DL or ID.

Amendment II is correct. The gun didn't need to be DROSed (registered) before 1990, so all that needs to happen is that your boss, the gun, and you show up to the FFL and run it like any normal PPT.
