Actually; I have no idea of the date of manufacture.

My google foo says these haven't been made since 1946, anyone else know anything?

might be worth checking the age
if its old enough for cash and carry I'll take it if Bobula doesn't

If it's C&R, I see a great legal SBS in the makings.

How is that?

C&R shotguns and rifles are the only allowed forms of SBSs and SBRs in this state.

Nice little gun there by the way.

Is it sold yet?

Seems alot are interested if it is C&R.
I'm not sure seeing how there is no serial number, only a
model number #15.
Right now I would rather transfer through a dealer.
That may change later if I get more info on this specific gun.
So is anyone interested in it, but transfering through a dealer.

If it's a Wards Western Field.Model 15 (http://www.hoosiergunworks.com/catalog/cross_reference.html#cross), then it was manufactured by MOSSBERG between 1933 and 1946 as the Model 80...

At the minimum, It would be ok to do a FFL 03 transfer.

I forget, here in CA, can you do a cash and carry for 50 year + long guns without a C&R Lic.

Don't be afraid to do cash-and-carry on this. Serial numbers were not required when this shotgun was produced. Heck, it would probably be more of a pain in the rear for an FFL to do the transfer because it has no SN to log in the books.

Cash and carry is 100% legal on C&R rifles/shotguns (over 50 years old). Unless you have a reason to believe the person is prohibited from owning or being transfered the firearm, ie he or she admits to being a felon, or appears to be younger than 18.

It's not worth the $35 tacked onto the base $40 cost of the rifle to run through the dealer.

If you were closer or I was passing through I would take it with cash no problem.

Right now I would feel better doing a dealer transfer.
If that does not happen, I will contact DOJ monday.
If they say OK FTF, I will go with first in line and down the list.

Serial # not required until 1968 which makes it only 40 years old on some guns making a FTF PPT illegal on such a gun. In 10 years all no serial number long guns will be CA C&R if laws don't change. Just like I'd assume all S&W revolvers w/o a model muber stamped in the gun are now C&R and not subject to the "the list.

Nice .410 btw. I'm loking for a cheap sporting .410 soon. Both of mine are inappropriate for trap or hunting.
