Hey everyone,

I'm building my next AK-47 and I just got finished stripping the furniture. I've run into the problem of a semi-deep gouge on the right upper portion of the buttstock (no pics to show) it's maybe 1/16th long but the problem is it's not sanding out....I don't want to sand too much for obvious reasons...any suggestions?

Thanks,

HH

Good links...thank you...so:

I already stripped the buttstock and began to sand with 220 grit...a LIGHT sanding...is it too late to submerge the stripped stock in boiling water?

I wouldn't think so.

You could also try ironing over it with a damp towel to raise it if it's dented in, but gouges are tough.

Is there any kind of filler I can put in? Something like a wood putty type filler? Would it take stain afterwards?

hell no, unless you are going to paint it. And the first time whack a zombie in the head with the butt, your filler gonna fly off....

just throw it in a pot of (boiling) water, let it soak. Or iron it.
