View Full Version : Your opinions on what night sights to buy

Hey Everyone

I was in the market for some night sights for my glock 19. Im leaning towards the Trijicon glo1 bright and tough.

Anybody have any experience with these? Or what do you guys prefer?

I use the mepro lights tru-dot sights on my glock 20.

Just an FYI Trijicon has differing warranties for green vs orange night sights

Bright & Tough™ and HD™ Night Sights:
The green tritium lamp is warranted to glow for twelve years from date of original manufacture. For the Bright & Tough Night Sights, the yellow lamp is warranted for 12 years and the orange lamp is warranted for 5 years from date of original manufacture. (NOTE: HD Night Sights only come with green lamps.)

I like Trij HD and Ameriglo Spartans, I have several sets of both on my Glocks including my carry Glocks.

I have trijicon hd's on my 42 and they're nice, but I'm really not happy with them as my accuracy and confidence went down. I'm shooting at 4" plates at 20 yards, all shots are almost certainly in a 6" zone so no problem for self defense, but I still hate missing.

The next set for my 26 will likely be an Ameriglo Hackathorn set.

+1 for Trijicon

Ive heard alot of talk about the hd's. Kinda dont like how high they sit i really like how the glock style sights sit. Also does having different color front and backs make a big difference?

I just measured stock g19 sights vs. trijicon hd on my g42. The trijicon hd's may be different sized on 42 or 19, not sure.

Stock Glock = 4mm
Trijicon HD = 4.7mm

Different color front/rear like this?

The argument is at night, if you can only see the glowing dots, that you can differentiate the front/rear sight so you can more easily center the front sight.

I think it's a bad thing since it can be distracting, and really your sights should come up almost perfectly to your eyes with very little practice, so this design is unnecessary.

I use the meprolight trudot sights on both of my Glocks. One set is over 10 years old and still glowing strong.

I also use Meprolight Trudot sights on all of my Glocks. These are what Glock uses for their night sight option, if I'm not mistaken. They look to be about the same profile and materials as the Trijicons for less than half the price. The oldest set I have are around ten years old, and came on an agency trade in, so they've seen quite a bit of use and abuse while still staying bright and intact.

Love my meprolight on my 1911. Hate the xs I have on my glock. They work for combat accurate, but are very difficult to use if you're in the dark, but not enough to see the lamps. I'll probably get meprolight again or trijicon.

I prefer XS Big Dot sights.

I also like Ameriglo iDots. Trijicon HDs are good, but I do not care for three dot sights.

I like Trijicons
I went 15 years with a set on my G-30 before I needed to replace them.
Tried the Tru-Glo tritium/fiber-optic sights on a G-22. They died after a year but Tru-Glo made it right. I shipped them the slide and they replaced them with new ones that are doing well 4 years later. I'm guessing the originals leaked.
Now I wonder if my safe is radioactive...

The decision is tough between the mepro and the trijicon :ack2:

I use the Vickers sights on my guns.

Tritium front, blacked out rear.

Haha new toys are fun though :D

What did you end up getting?

Searched around for an orange ameriglo hackathorn set for my g19.

I've been wanting to try them for awhile, it's got everything I want for pistol sights and the price is decent. (I wish the rear sight face wasn't ramped but oh well.)

Very nice ive never had the opportunity to shoot with the blank rear sights

This is my current dilemma :2guns:

Eh, whatever difference the 15% taller sight has, you'll get used to it quick enough so it wont matter. The picture is also exaggerating the difference since it's not to scale.

If you want the trijicon hd's, just get them.
