View Full Version : Sources for unfinished Model 70 stocks...

I've got one in .243, a Westerner, without the floorplate cutout. The yahoo who had it at some point before me cut the butt down so its way too small for my oversized self and I've had a helluva time trying to find a replacement stock.

I'd like it to be unfinished wood so I can finish it myself and make it nice and purdy...no synthetics are wanted...but a finished one that is affordable would be acceptable as well.

Any ideas of where to go that aren't going to cost me an arm and a let?!?

You will probably have to check Ebay and the gun auction sites for used ones as inletted solid wood stock blanks are usually made for custom builds. Since you said that it doesn't have a floorplate cutout you will be looking for a post-64 stock which will be harder to find as people usually don't do a lot of custom work on those.

Yea, not a single auction site has had one come up in over a year. I check every week...Lots of long action stocks without a cutout, but no solid floored short actions...
