View Full Version : 870 parts question

I just purchased a used 870 Wingmaster and did a dissassembly yesterday. Cleaning and oiling the parts, i discovered that the shell latch on my right hand side is bent way out of proportion and could not stake in. Also, because I did the dissassembly at the range, after I discovered that used shells were jamming and stacking on live rounds, I lost a tiny circular wire piece in the trigger assembly that keeps the two pins for the assembly in tact. Anyone know what part that's called? I'm looking at brownells.com for 870 factory parts now. Any suggestions as to what I should do?

i discovered that the shell latch on my right hand side is bent way out of proportion and could not stake in. What do you mean stake? And What do you mean shell latch? Is "shell latch" extractor?

FWIW if you don't need to disassemble at the range (i.e. you are not hunkered down during a lul in a zombie fight), take your firearms to a nice peacefull spot in your domicile and disassemble, clean, oil there.
From what it sounds like to me, you just need to bend and restake your "shell latch", and find the "wire" part no., order it and install.
I also find the Remington tech guys very helpfull as I have called them a few times to inquire on serial numbers and manufacturing dates.
