I just purchased a new LMT 16" Took it to the Range and after shooting around 40 rds I got a failure to feed. I cleared the jam and looked at the round and the bullet was pushed into the shell, the tip was flattened and there was a slice on the side of the casing. I was shooting .223 55g. I tossed the round to the side and continued shooting. This happened 4 more times (not consecutively.) After the first one i was sure to inspect each round i put in my mag. Anyone have any ideas what it could be?

In my experience most ar's have a couple jams in the first 100 to 200 rounds. It happens, shoot the crap out of it and wear it in.

Dead*reckoned I plan on it... I've been told that by a couple of people, just wanted outside opinions.

What kind of ammo? For process of elimination, be sure to use factory new ammo with 5.56 pressures.
Good luck.

It happens, after you get past 150-300 rounds, the problem should be fixed. It happened with my LMT's, my LWRC's, and my POF's.
