I have seen anywhere from $150 - $250 depending on condition.

I'd say hold on to it if you can.
If you must sell, I'd say $200 to $230ish is a fair price right now, presuming very good to excellent condition.
Beware, they're only going to get more scarce. Be sure you're willing to part with it and have no regrets later down the road.

What is considered the best parts kit?, Bulgarian?
How are the Yugo and Hungarian Kits?

Russian>Bulgarian>Polish>Hungarian>Yugoslavian>Romanian

All things being equal (which they rarely are).

With kit prices being what they are, I've decided to only buy Russian parts kits from now on.

i am new to this parts kit issue.. but like elsquid pointed out.. isnt it just cheaper to get a saiga and convert it?

The savings aren't quite there if you consider doing a "real" AKM conversion, ie adding a FSB w/bayo lug, lower handguard retainer, gas tube with upper handguard, bullet guide, trigger guard, threading the barrel, etc.

That said, I have 3 Saigas (although none in x39) and yes, you will end up with a quality product in the end.

If you're in it for a pure shooter, disregarding looks, then converting a Saiga with just the FCG moved forward, using the original trigger guard, and adding a bullet guide and 922r parts, is a decent value.

Just putting a bullet guide into a Saiga and playing the 922(r) parts game is a great way to end up with a good CA-legal AK-type.

I did the math and a Saiga conversion is expensive, especially if you have to buy the tools and converting a .308 like I want to. The Ironwood Designs stock set is $96, special FCG (for 308 only) and front handguard parts $215, tools $130......the way I want to do it the conversion is going to cost me $500!!!

Boy, I am glad I got my kit. Just haven't had it built up yet, however I do have all the parts to make it legal.

Apex has 1970's non G kits for $190, I got two and the barrels are almost like new, great customer service, and fast shipping. I highly recommend them!

They said that they should be sold out in a month, and that was a week ago... so I think this is the best you are going to get from a dealer right now without spending $300.
