Trying to remove the stock bolt on my mossberg 500a. The bolt's got a slotted head, but seems like the factory put locktite on it, can't for the life of me get the darn thing to turn. Even tried a wrench with a screwdriver. Anyone have any tips or special tools? It's too deep for me to get my drill and socket in there.

One of two ways - IIRC it has a head on it to use a socket - get a long ext and go at it or use a long handled screw driver with a thick blade, turn while tapping lightly with a hammer.

I went to the hardware store and bought the biggest flat head screw driver I could find. Got home and found that the hole was too small, LOL. I only had to drill a short distance and the screwdriver was able to go in. I just muscled it and it finally gave. Good luck!

try to tighten it slightly then loosen it. if it doesnt work you may need someone to hold the gun while you muscle it. Its a PITA but it can be muscled to loosen up

where did you have to drill? Did you drill out the screw?

How about a 1/2" (IIRC) deep socket and extension?

All I did was get a long enough screw driver, then clamped a vice-grip to the screw driver handle, then whacked the attached grip with a hammer. Did the trick on my 500 and 590.

This is exactly what I used last weekend. I tried attaching the pistol grip kit that came with my M500. 1/2" socket wrench using 2 extensions.

BTW the M500's receiver is aluminium IIRC. Something to keep in mind when reattaching a stock.
