Timber does wind pick up there in the afternoon and late evening?

Yes and swirls mid range as the range cools after the afternoon sun. Being in a canyon they have morning and eveining thermals similar to APS. Watch the weeds and the dust from previous competitors impacts. Also make sure and sheck your zeroes before the match - Savannah is normally 1/2 MOA low and 1/4 MOA right with an APS zero.

PistolPete75
07-11-2008, 10:11 AM
i will definitely check my zero. tnx. however, since i'll be shooting first i have no time to correct my windage. i'll be either on or off.

Well there is disadvantage going first. The further you are back, the more you can correct for windage by seeing where the shots are landing and in addition, in some of the tactical stages you can see what is working and what is not. You can also time people on multiple shot stages, and see what would work best for you.

It isn't necessarily the shooting order. Cross your fingers and wait for confirmation.

i wouldn't see why not. they might make you sign a waiver and mayby pay range fees. drop a pm to spanaird.

Timberwolf

Take my advise get there early, mid morning or so. Give yourself plenty of time to zero, get set up etc without rushing. It will be hot out there in that canyon so take it easy, and make sure you water up. The three main things you'll need are rifle, ammo and water, everything else is just fluff. Make sure you have a good pair of sun glasses or sun shades on your scopes - if the courses of fire run the way they have in the past you'll be shooting with the sun setting directly in front of you Sat eveing.

Give 'em hell guys

PS Kinda second guessing my decision and wishing like hell I was going, its gonna be a long weekend. Oh well closing arguments next week so I'll be busy

I thought someone said like 30 minutes away. If its an hour or so, it might be better just to camp out.

Just so you guys are not suprised, we have a no-fire policy.
Don't plan on cooking those steaks over a BBQ or open fire.
You can cook inside a trailer though.

If you bring a trailer, think dry camping.
There's porta potties and a couple sinks with running water, but no hookups for water, power, cable TV or internet like SVSC's country club campgrounds.

What time is everyone arriving tomorrow? I need to check my zero on the 100 yard range.

Here's the deal...
There's a 2gun match in the morning on the back ranges where all the SCPRC shooting will occur so you won't be able to shoot there before the match starts.
There's a 100yd public range with covered benches that will be available for zero check starting after 8:30 when the rangemaster shows up and opens the gate.
This range is out front and not effected by any matches.

Im giving up and shooting handgun after I did so well.....

For those of us who couldn't go..........Where the heck are the results? The AAR? Who took top shooter? Which team won?

Did my norcal buddies bring home the gold?

PistolPete75
07-13-2008, 8:38 PM
I rather wait till Spanaird posts the final results.

All in all, all shooters shot very well. There were a couple of misfortunes on our team like scope failure and miscommunication with the RO, so I know some of the shooters I shot with could have gotten a much better score. There were alot of good shooters, and I have never seen a group of serious shooters all gathered like that before.

I can also say it was not all about prone. Many courses were shot in unsupported positions. Hostage stage was nearly impossible to hit. I would say that most of the stages were very challenging.

On a side note, the prizes were pretty dam good. I walked away with some goodies like a uso shirt, calender, mildot master, and an awesome gift certificate from smk. Prize table had a uso scope, uso spotter, luppy mark 4 scope, kestryl, cronos, and the lists goes on. Shoot, I think everyone walked away with a nice gift.

Mark and his crew did a good job of getting the match together. All in all, it went pretty dam smooth. I know I had alot of fun.

Top 10 shooters consisted of a jambalaya of teams: Texas, Norcal, and Socal shooters were all in the mix. The top shooter, he just simply kicked some serious ***. He was in a class of his own.

Hey Randall, thanks for the mildot master. You know I'll get you in my smk buy.

Jicko, I want your steel. If you don't shoot it, I'll buy it off you or trade you 4 some smk bullets for it!

Jason's wasn't behaving properly.

I ain't going to make that claim till I can confirm it/ duplicate what happened. I figured it could be also be the Pod Claws jumping on the hard cement simulating the symptom (the claw point falling into a groove in the cement). ONE of those two are getting the heck off my rifle. Personally I think it's the latter after giving it more thought. That thing has caused me more problems than anything else :(

Either way.. no excuse for my day one performance..
