Purchased my first new handgun the other day... Own a lot that came with me from Texas, but never a new one from California... Brand new CZ-75bd.... 11 day wait at Targetmasters West... How do I not lose my mind?? So far I've bought a custom set of walnut grips, and boxes of ammo awaiting the 11th day.... Looking at getting a Kadet kit.... This wait is torture!

It doesn't get any better either. Practice Tai Chi or something to soothe your nerves.

Man, I had a similar experience recently. I drosed a CZ75b, then I had to go out of town the week after. I had to wait TWENTY days to pick up my pistol, not just the mandatory ten. Just find something else to keep yourself busy, and the time will fly by.
Like going to the range with your other toys :)

When I have to go through the 10 day waiting period, I go to Irvington Arms as much as I can to buy other stuff to keep my mind off the waiting. Either that, or if I'm waiting for a hand gun, I'll go and try and find a long gun on the fourth or fifth day if I have the money...

To the original poster, if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the CZ at Targetmasters?

Well, it wasn't much of a deal, but I've been looking for a while, wanted a new one, and no one else carried it. I called krausewerks, irvington, reeds, etc. etc... I think it was sportsmens supply that quoted me $695 so I went for it at $510 at targetmasters. Stung a bit, but I was through waiting for it and they're nice enough guys.

For the most part, if I know what I already want, I find the dealer with the best price and service (at this point, I'm in bed with the guys at Irvington Arms) and just have them order it. Since they can usually get the serial number from where ever they are ordering it from, I can start the paperwork on the spot, unless I get there too late to order. As long as you are happy with your purchase, i'm sure nothing else matters. Good luck with the gun... I'm sure you'll love it.

I just set the pickup date in my email calendar and don't worry about it until the alarm comes up that morning. I only shoot on the weekends anyway, so I really wouldn't get much out of having the weapon during the workweek.

Or, at least that's what I tell myself. It helps to have other, unrelated hobbies and interests that can occupy me.

Painfull always...buying a holster...ammo...laying out the needed items from your cleaning kit on the workbench for that first clean even though there are still 4 days to go...looking for more positive product reviews even though you already bought it...double checking the store's Open hours for pick-up day..I focus on getting all the "honey-dos" done so when I finally pick it up I can go shooting right away!!!

Holy crap, the prices have gone up on CZ's!

I paid $589 (before DROS and such) for my CZ-97B in 2001. Think I paid $369 for my CZ-75B back in '01 or '02, but I'm not 100% sure.

yea, i was seeing them used for 425 or so, but felt like spending the 80 extra bucks for a new one. oh well, i'm still stoked!

I think the only gun I've picked up and actually was anxious about the 10 days was my first one.

usually I end up picking it up 2 or 3 weeks after starting the dros. i've done quite a few 28 and 29 day pickups. even had to re dros a few times.

I ordered a Glock 19 which was back ordered online on April 14th and it arrived at my FFL on June 30th, i came in 30 minutes from the time my FFL called me to start the paper work. My ten days are up tomorrow but unfortunately hes not going to be at his store front tomorrow :(. Now what did i do while waiting all this time for my Glock 19? I found Calguns.net and built this bad boy

Play with your existing guns, that way they don't feel left out when the new one come home.

Buy parts / accessories.

On the 2nd I picked up a Kimber Ultra CDP II and another Glock 27. I went on a shopping spree for 1911 grips, holsters, and magazines while waiting.

Today I started DROS' on a Sig 556(new), a Sig P220 Stainless(new), a Winchester 1894 (used), and a Ruger 10/22(new). I've already got all the AR mags I'll ever need for the 556, and I already had another P220 (older German mfg.), so I don't need mags for the new P220. I am now looking at the endless supply of 10/22 parts and trying to narrow down the field. By the time I decide and the parts are shipped, I should be ready for pickup.

Hopefully nothing new gets added to the Approved Handgun list this month that I am interested in. I've blown my budget for the month, and then some. Sometimes I regret getting the exemption for the 1 in 30 days rule.... almost. :D

During the 10 day wait, I've bought another gun, long gun of course, as well as browsing from accessories or ammunition (if I don't already have it).

I'm waiting on a couple now, but I'm browsing the Cold War Shooters website as I type...

I have the perfect solution for this. Buy 1 consignment or PPT hand gun every day.... That way after few days, everyday you have one to pickup one too. That's what I do!! It works really really well.

1. Check out the documentation online.

2. Buy Ammo.

3. Look at your other guns. They will be lonely for awhile after that 10 days is up.

Since the wait is sometimes unbearrable, I'd buy a new AND a used (PPT)...and maybe even a longun all on the same day. That way, that 10 day wait is WORTH IT hahaha. If not, I try and not think about it.

What’s a 10 day waiting period :confused::confused:;)

I used to just go shooting or fishing when I had to worry about such things.
