View Full Version : How many handguns do you own NOW?

Greg-Dawg
07-04-2008, 4:11 PM
Not what you had back in the 80's and sold off, not Marksman® BB guns, not water guns, etc.

Just getting a census of the "right" amount to have.

Feel free to mention the model, caliber and why you like.

I have two Glocks in .40S&W and love 'em!

Thanks for replying.

whoops....I have 3. Springfield XD45 service, Kahr MK9, Dan Wesson Model 15. That number by no means is the "right" number to have. The right number I guess would be....AS MANY AS POSSIBLE!:gunsmilie:

I'm short: a few 1911s, a few sigs, a GLOCK or two, a CZ....

My next one would probably a 1911A1, it'll probably not see a lot of range time.:cool2:

I don't know. At least a dozen blackpowder handguns, a dozen or so .22RFs and 20ish centerfire handguns. But, I'm afraid to round them all up and officially count them.

Same here.
I have a don't know, don't care policy when it comes to how many guns I own.

The problem is when you buy something and then realize later that you already had one...

Bukowski

More than 4 less than Randall.

I have most of the major families covered Glocks, HKs, 1911's, Ruger's, Sigs, MP's etc. Strangely I have no XD's or 10mm.

All get range time, safe queens get sold off pretty quick.

M. Sage
07-04-2008, 4:46 PM
I've only got two right now. My first buy was a CZ52 (still have it) and now I've got a Sig P220 SAO. I love 'em both.

I need to add a Sig P6 or 225, and possibly a 226 (in 9mm) at some point, a revolver (mostly for my wife) or probably two - one in .22 and one in something like .357 or .38. Want to get a Browning Buckmark at some point, and I need a 1911 or two.

Yeah, I know. I got addicted to Sigs... Why couldn't Glocks point right for me?

The only 10mm I have is a TC contender barrel.
I really need to find a 10mm Witness or a Delta Elite.
Those two are on my list.

Do you mean all, or just the ones in state of residence?

I'm not going to take them out and count them. What's weird is how many of them are not on the CA 'okay for mere citizens' list. I never knew I was attracted to unsafe handguns until I began reading here...

I only bought my first almost exactly 2 years ago and I am already over the top of this poll. The only 3 I routinely publicly admit to owning are the 3 on my CCW. Taurus 605, S&W CS9, & Kimber BP TenII. I only admit to these in order to avoid any spouse aggro, as to a more accurate count.

13 is more than 4 but nowhere near too many. though my gun buying days are over with for now. im in the selling mood now because i just bought a house and i need to sell my other house before i can buy anymore. i just sold a springfield m1a with 1000 rounds of lc ammo and unfortunately more will be on the block. once i sell my house i can replace the ones i really liked (like the m1a).

My first long gun after my 10-22 was a shotgun.

I own 11 guns total. A Springfield M1A Scout, Remington 870 shotgun, Desert Camo Ruger 10/22, OLL Wislon Combat and CMMG, Handguns are Springfield XD 5" Tactical 40S&W, Taurus PT-92 9mm, Smith&Wesson M&P 40S&W, Astra A-75 9mm, Smith&Wesson 38 Special Model 442, and Glock 21 45Cal....

Almost enough. My only additional considerations would be something long range and a shotgun.

I don't go to Lowe's and buy every tool they have just to own tools. When I buy a tool, I want one that will work. And if it does, I keep it. If not, I replace it.

I quit counting at a dozen. Still got some things to get. Need a .22 or two, haven't had one in a while. Going to get a .22 conversion unit for my Combat Commander as well.

Now if good quality vintage S&W revos ever stop coming on the market, I'll have to stop buying.

My first long gun after my 10-22 was a shotgun.

I have 15 shotguns. I never fired a shotgun until 1999, I bought my 1st one in 1996 though. I have 40 rifles.

One of my 1st long guns was a 10/22 also. I still have 2 of them.

Two less now than I will by next week. Picking up an NAA Guardian on Tuesday and a Detonics Mk I a few days later.

Instead of buying more guns, I think I'll stick to rediscovering the ones I have - sort of "forgot" about the old model Cobra until I looked at the little brown Colt box that was stashed slightly out of the way in the gun room and a Ruger SA 30 Carbine in a nondescript gun sock.

Sheesh, I've sold more than 4. I had to actually count on my fingers because I didn't know, but I think I have 12 including one on dros wait.

trying to count it... hmmm I think I've sold 5 handguns away.

17 background checks/ dros = $442 at current CA fee rates, not incl. locks or whatever transfer fees.
BSFC card $14
HSC $25 once so far
a pile of locks.

I'd round it off and say I got $500 in fees for handguns and maybe nearly as much invested in long gun fees. I figure it is 8 to 10 percent of my total outlay.
