Please I'm looking for a nice local outdoors range, Gun Club, etc.
With gas prices it would be really nice to stay local. WEGC is quite far.
Thanks in advance

Angeles, Oak Tree or Piru are your closest "open to the public" outdoor ranges that I know of.

Ojai Valley Gun Club (http://www.ovgc.net) up the 33 is a great rifle and pistol range with camping facilities. Range goes out to 600 yds, has steel swingers and a full highpower/military style berm with up/down targets (just realized that I don't actually know the proper name for this:rolleyes:)
Winchester Canyon Gun Club (http://www.wcgc.org/) in Santa Barbara has great shotgun facilities and a decent pistol range, a decent 100yd rifle range, and a pretty crap, almost always closed 200yd rifle range.
There is also a private range on the north side of the 126 that holds matches sometimes - don't know much about this though
There is the "glass factory" above Santa Barbara on East Camino Cielo. This is an open shooting area where you can place targets going up a hill to about 400 rds (that's a hike though). It is maintained by you cleaning up after yourself. It is probably closed for fire hazard till the next rains with the "Gap Fire" going on up there now.
There is also I understand a different similar forest service designated shooting area off the 33. Don't know where, never been there, might not actually exist. Some dude in Uncle Paul's (GREAT SHOP BTW!) was asking if it was "still open?" so take that for what its worth, but it might be worth tracking down. Might have been this place. I don't know anything in Simi Valley, but if you go up to the Ojai Valley Gun Club on the 1st or 3rd Sunday of the month when they hold "across the course" (informal) highpower, precision rifle, and similar matches, the guys there would be able to tell you alot more about other places to shoot.
Going the other direction (towards the 5 that is), you've got Angeles (http://www.angelesranges.com/) (I think out to 700yds?), the Burbank Rifle and Revolver Club (http://www.brrc.org/range.html) (1000 yds), the Desert Marksman Club (http://www.dmrpc.org/) (1000 yds).
I know there are numerous ranches and private lands with ranges. I have never had the privilige of shooting on any of them, but if you go to enough informal shoots you might get to know the right people to be able to do so. In any case, that should get you started.
Hope that helps
