The Atlanta PD Chief is as out of touch with reality as anyone that I've ever seen.

They never had to worry about people carrying guns in parks and buses because they had a "no gun" policy. I'm sure that policy stopped every criminal in the State.

My fav part is the "now we have to worry about people carrying on busses". Hey just because it wasn’t legal before didn’t mean that people didn’t do it. Now there will be good people with guns to.

Do these people actually believe this crap? The part about how officers will have to make a different assumption of the public killed me! Previously, they didn't have to worry about criminals carrying guns in parks and on buses because they had a "no gun policy". Hmmm...just like how schools have no gun policies and that stops BGs from coming on campus and shooting people up?

Since our government is constantly making new laws anyways, maybe a good new one would be forcing liberals to take a logic class before they can decide to be a liberal!

With the new law in effect he states his Officers must make an assumption that a bus or restaurant now has someone present carrying a concealed weapon, whereas before they didn't have to make that assumption/. Isn't it accurate to say that before the law and now, there are probably the same number of people (bad guys) illegally carrying a concealed gun but now there are others (good guys) legally carrying a concealed gun. As usual for police higher ups, they make no distinction between the two.

Talks of CHL owners getting training so they are better prepared. Always good to get more training.

The rest of it was funny; and sad if he really believed that there were no guns on buses, MARTA and at bars until this law passed.

I'm just speachless. If he really believes what he says then why don't they just put a "No Crime Policy" covering the whole state. That would stop all criminals and there wouldn't be any need for Police at all. How do people like him ever make it to the positions they are in? Unbelievable.

I hate these clueless reporters eating up this garbage and not challenging any of the idiotic myths they keep repeating. Then again I expect no less from our media, especially CNN.

"when an officer steps into a bus or a train, he or she would have to assume that some one on the bus might be armed, and in the past we didn't have to make those assumptions"

Wow what kinda circus Police Academy and Department they were running in Atlanta. They must have trained all officers to assume that because it was illegal to conceal firearms, all homey G gangsta types carried pink water pistols.

I'm sure on that matter he wasn't speaking for his officers, because I'm sure his officers had more common sense than him, and not assumed that because concealed carry was illegal, no one carried guns on their person.

Last note, I wonder if he knew which city hes a Police Chief in? Makes me wonder if he realizes that he was talking about his Jurisdiction Atlanta, which is known for its gang activities and gang violence.

I feel bad for Atlantans or w/e they are called, for having a chief who thinks hes in La La land.

Well before, the only thing the cops had to worry about were getting shot by little old ladies when the cops were invading her home. Now they will have to worry about people being able to defend themselves from badge wearing criminals while they are out in public.

That is one of the most crooked police depts(and city governments) around.

I'm at a loss for words. All I can think of........ WTF
He makes it appears like anyone who owns a gun doesn't know how to handle it, only the police know how. Gee I better remember that the next time I go to the range! All those gun owners around me just might discharge their gun because they are not trained like the police..... What a bunch of crap!
