The Sac County Sheriff is guest hosting the Armstrong & Getty show right now. Mainly talking about the Horn case.
If you're in the area, good time to call him about:
CCW
OLLs
City of Sac Ammunition Restrictions
etc.

Didn't catch any of it...are you sure it was that show? Unless I missed it as being only in the first 20-30 minutes, it wasn't there.

Hmm...not picking up on my dial. I'm listening to Armstrong and Getty on 910AM and nothing with the sheriff at all.

Basically:
1)That if Joe Horn (http://www.mahalo.com/Joe_Horn_Shooting) was in CA, not TX, he'd be arrested, prosecuted, tried and convicted.
2)We shouldn't defend ourselves, in our homes unless it is a "tumultuous entrance" (he kept repeating this, I'm guessing there is case law or code defining this term), and even then we should really, really reconsider. His example was a realtor accidentally entering your home and if you shot them you'd go to prison.
3)Lack of response time by SCSO does not justify issuance of CCW.
4)Mace and pepper spray are good, guns bad.
Mainly focused on the Horn case though.
BTW, he's a very good speaker and a smooth politician. I wouldn't be surprised if he had higher aspirations.

I don't know about the rebroadcast in the Bay Area. Maybe you got a re-run since Sheriff McGinness is specifc to the Sac area?
Anyway, who cares about you Bay Area folk anyway? :p

It's difficult for an officer in CA to comprehend the law abiding public being able to CCW. That would really deflate their egos since they have the gun and the badge. My 2nd home of Arizona, the police I have spoken with like having armed citizens. It's an accepted part of the job / life.
All the officers shot or killed in the line of duty were by illegals or gang banger with stolen guns. Get rid of all three elements.

One thing that has always puzzled me.... LEOs and security personnel I have been told carry a firearm for their protection...not as an offensive weapon. Why then do they as a group deserve this option of protection while the average Joe does not? It would seem this violates the 'equal protection' element of the BOR.

No need for the generalizations and stereotyping. You'd be surprised how many LEO 's support CCW's and citizens owning guns.

This thread was started with the intention of educating residents of Sac County as to what their Sheriff is thinking and to get them to call & ask questions relevant to our gun community.
With all due respect, if you want to turn this into another LEO bashing thread, start your own or join one of many others that exist here.

Yup, especially in the quasi-free parts of the state (foothills/mountains/desert).

It seems like last time McGinnis was discussed I was chastised for calling him what he his... A POS.
This makes the case even more clear in my favor. I've been watching this SOB since he was an underling of the last jackass.
When I think McGinnis, I remember the awesome way he handled the Florin Road Good Guys standoff in 1991 in which he commanded.

There is a podcast available on the KSTE website if anyone wants to listen to it.
Is the guy under investigation right now? Why the hell is he on the radio instead of doing his job?
