View Full Version : NRA life membership $300

12/17/2008 they are having the $300 special again...

NRA is doing a promotion on life memberships. Cost $300. Must have family member sponsor you (mom, dad, uncle, grandparent), I think it's some sort of endowment. just got a letter in the mail.

Not sure if this is the correct forum...

I didn't notice anything about being a family member. It is called a Legacy Life Membership IIRC, but as far as I know you can present it to anyone.

I don't understand. Does it mean a family member has to buy it for you?

I joined as a life member under the same promotion. A Calgunner signed a bunch of us up over the last couple years.

This sounds correct. My previous boss offered a few of us this opportunity a few years back or so.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but I believe that the whole point of a "Life Membership" is for it to be "expensive" so that you give the NRA a good amount of money.

Organizations like the NRA live off of donations from us, so I think we should give them as much as we can.

You can do a $25 per quarter ($100 per year) until the life membership is paid off.

That seems easy.

I joined at the last show in Vallejo. I still have yet to see the NRA charge my credit card for the full amount for the Life Membership I signed up for. :( I wonder what's going on.

I agree, but I believe that the more members we have, the better off we are.

Hmmm, if you mulch all of the mail they send you over a lifetime and sell it, you'll be well ahead of the $300 it cost you to join.

Also keep in mind, paid in full life members are available to vote in the NRA ballots for board of directors, if you are still paying off your membership then you are not elligible to vote until paid in full I believe. And you can always still donate yearly.

No kiddn', they sure load you up w/ reading material. I agree w/ Drjones....although I'm sure nobody in the organization is complaining about instant $300 contributions here and there.

I would spend the full ticket on the life membership if they could promise under the penalty of a salted lashing and a million dollar settlement the following for breach of contract:

I will never ever receive a single piece of snail mail asking for more money in any way, shape or form.
My personal information is never shared in any way, shape or form.
I will never receive a copy of their monthly magazine.
I will never receive a phone call or communication of any kind.
I will never receive an email of any sort from them or their friends.
They mail me a single new sticker once a year.

Biff...

Thanks for picking up the torch here, as they say a good deed done needs to be pass on and I thank you for that.

Now, I see a lot of Life members here like Biff... are getting the mailings offering them the ability to provide "family" with $300 memberships. This is the exact same offerings I have used in the pass few years for our calgun members to get life memberships. For those that have these letters and would like to use them for other members, just remember we are all "family" and the NRA will agree with the definition. To use these forms, just have the new members either submit a CC number to you or send you a check made out to the NRA directly. Then the sponser only needs to submit all the paperwork (new member's name, address, current member number, ect) with funds in the time window allowed. If I recall correctly, I submitted almost 30 new calgun family members applications just this last Feb (all at one time and same for years before ) and they all got their memberships, never one turn down or rejection. So the take away message here is don't get too hung up on the wording of the offering if you are one that would like to use it for other members here.

You can do it, all you need to do is collect the info, funds, and call the Life Members 800#. They give you a max of 3 at the $300 rate, and 5 at a $500 rate.

I ve got 4 slots available to sign up family, they dont mention any limit actually, so I am willing to submit more with the understanding that I cannot guarantee that they will honor the offer, but Im guessing that they are willing to do it.

Its not a big thing for me, I've given more than enough over the past ten years to more than cover the $1000 full price membership. What is important to me is that we have more committed members and that the NRA has more funds.

I just signed up under this program and I am telling you it works.

Anyone upset that we are not giving enough remeber that any member, life or not can still donate as much as they want, anytime.

Also just look to this thread at all the $300 memberships that came on (or want to). It is very likely that all thos thousands of dollars would have never seen the NRA's hopper at all!

Make it a real value that is affordable and you draw the masses.

I was told that I will be able to sponser other into the program soon. When I get the go ahead, you can pm me and I will sign you up. Until then the Calgunners who are doing the job can attach a seperate paper with all the ifno and I am told it would be acceptable. They just want a major push on membership right now and the quick $300 sure doesn't hurt.

To a point your correct but if they have a discount on memberships especially in a time when money is tight they may get even more memberships in the same amount of time. Heck I know that if I had an extra $600 I would do one for my boyfriend and one for myself but right now that is out of the question with me looking for work.
