I am looking for a resource for info on legal AR cariers versus illegal. I have heard heavy carriers are illegal but then I see many different threads talking about using them.
Can anyone refrer me to a site that will define the law?
Thanks

Your not going to find legislation on gun parts that are allowed.
No parts that will make your rifle into a machine gun, the bolt carrier won't make your rifle into a machine gun. The auto carriers are just as legal as the semi. The only difference is the auto carriers have more mass.

it is a part that is used to operate the full auto fire control group so i will not risk it

i wonder which regulatiuons they are refering to
To compy with regulations the under side lug of our sem-auto carrier is milled back approximately 1/3 of an inch.

It has been very well established and accepted that an "FA" bolt carrier is absolutely legal and ok in a semi-automatic AR. The BATFE has no issues with this, and there are no laws preventing it.
Many people use them legitimately due to their heavier mass, which is believed to have the effect of making the gun more reliable in function.
Lower parts, however, are a different story.
