On Discovery "Future Weapons" did a top ten weapons of war (post WW-II) show.
The AK was rated as 7th which amazed even the brain dead host as to why it wasn't rated much higher.

yeah, i saw the discovery channel one and was amazed that the ak (and it's varients) wasn't at least in the top 2 if not number 1. i'm an AR fan but i'll give respect where respect is due... the widespread use of the AK is incredible.

Im sure its because "they " dont want the unwashed masses to find out the joy of owning a Ak series. How would it look to your average uninformed viewer that a 1950s designed steel stamped loose tolerance relatively inexpensive rifle that a child can use, disassemble and reassemble rated higher than some high tech super dooper multi million dollar cost in development rifle.
I think the host is ok. Little too much on the Im so cool I love me crowd but otherwise he seems to know what hes about

The viewers voted on Discovery on the order of the top 10 weapons, and it didn't focus solely on rifles. The top 10 rifles ever show on the military channel however, had the AK as #1.

OK, so there must be more intelligent people watching the History Channel.
