Marc Paschke should have his finger off the trigger but it's still a nice picture.
Why is that guy posing for pictures for that communist rag? I would have told them to go piss up a rope for their picture. Obviously this clown doesn't know guy safety..

Agreed. A nice picture indeed ( aside from safety issue ) - due to correct white balance (the nice flesh tone vs the deep dark blue background down the range).... I am a photo geek... :D

finger on the trigger and safety off.......potential Darwin Award candidate. Just bad form especially on the front page.

Doesn't loo lke there is a mag in the gun.. but there could be one in the pipe.... definately a safety issue regardless of the no mag.

Yeah but guys! Front page of the Chronic! How cool is that!
And let's be honest, only gun nerds like us will notice the safety violation.
I was hoping that people would see the picture and read the caption and be all "Wow, there's a gun range in San Rafael? Let's go!"

I think the best response anyone can give to some idiot reporter looking for a comment on any gun control issue is three-fold:
1) "Rocheambeau" the fool. Hard.
2) Tell him to call 703-267-3820
3) Wish him a nice day

Not to defend the poor form on having his finger in there, but I'd bet there's a good chance the photographer asked him to do that for shot composition.
It probably would have looked odd, and not what the non 'initiated' would expect to see in a gun photo.
Not saying it's right, or that's what happened, just saying it's a possibility.

Sacrificing gun safety for the sake of a good photo op. is a poor reason at best. Better that the reporter should ask that the gun be pointed directly at him because the picture would look more "Dangerous" and he would be right, for once.:p

No, I agree with you, but it's amazing what people will agree to, or do without thinking when there is a camera and some pressure.
(This is the part where the 'girls gone wild' video comments start....)

I haven't read the story of interest - I quit reading the Chron a long time ago - but it never ceases to amaze me at what people will do or say in front of a camera. News reporters, photogs, and camera crews go out with an agenda, they aren't simply trolling for something to shoot. Having that in mind, they are going to use whoever they put in front of that camera to further THEIR agenda, not impartially reporting what you think you have to say. It is never a good idea to agree to be their tool, because they will, more often than not, misuse your remarks/images and make you look like a dolt in front of the camera. They are pros, they do this every day, how often do you do on camera work?? I bet Marc Paschke thought he was making guns look good in the newspaper, and sincerely so. He, nor any of us, has any control over how that image/quote is later used.

I am going to need to have a talk with this Marc about why he is pointing a gun at the lane next to him with his finger on the trigger...

One other thing.
I shoot at Bullseye once or twice a week, and just so people don't get the wrong impression about it, it's a very safe and friendly environment. It's by far one of the best indoor ranges I've had the pleasure of shooting at.
This photo-op is just that, a photo-op.

We should never ever give the media any sort of opportunity to twist things: no interviews, no photo ops, no chance to film, nothing.
Tell them to call 703-267-3820 and give them one minute to get off your property before you call the police and have them arrested for trespassing.

While you're at it give hime some instruction on trigger control, he's got way too much finger in that trigger guard. Just about to the second joint.

Bulleyes is a fine range. In fact I just went there with my Glock this morning. Had a great time!
Saw a big birthday party outting at the range today too (some girl's birthday party with like 6-8 of her girlfriends and like 2 guys tagged along ). Staff there were very helpful with the beginners, and I am sure they had a good time. Of course the girls're pretty cute, and I stuck around for a bit longer after my range time... :D lol
By knowing how things are at Bullseye (both bought stuff and used the range), I'd cut them some serious slack here.

I seriously had no intention of this becoming a "lack of safety at Bullseye" thread; I just thought it was cool that a local range had a picture that was taken there on the front page of the Chronic.
