Mossberg 500 home defender. is 200$ a reasonable asking price?

Also I have a SKS but if i wanted to build my own Ak series from a saiga parts kit can you buy a Saiga parts kit and how much should a saiga parts kit cost? 300$. the prices for a saiga seem to be in the 550-600$ range in the for sale section so im thinking I can make one cheaper. Ive been reading up on the ak builds and I have all the tools so it doesnt seem to be that hard but then again woudl it be easier to get a already built new one?
I like the look for the saiga. Im assuming a parts kit and a receiver will still be less than buying a new one or not really?
Thanx for any info

Its in great condition. The gun is black in color with black plastic stock and front grip. The shotgun takes 8 rounds inside the loading tube. the loading tube and barrel are the same length.Rarely fired basically sits in my gun safe I took it to the range a few times probably shot 200 rounds through it. i purchased it back in 1998-1999.( I have another mossberg 500 and a OU that I use for hunting with longer barrels)
Thanx

Is this a mossberg 590? There is no mossberg 500 that holds 8 rounds in the tube. It's either 7 in the tube and one up top, or it is a 590.

It's been a minute since I've seen them for this cheap. Last time the 500's were going for 250. Might depend on the area the advertisement is in.

So this is the mossberg 500 persuader 8 shot, correct? 20" barrel with the magazine tube that is flush with the barrel? I have the same exact one. Its chambered to shoot 2.75" or 3.00" shells. I also have the 500A stamped on the reciever. I use 2.75" shells and when I put 7 in the tube there is still room left over, but not enough to put the 8th one in. I suppose that's because it's also meant to hold 7 3" shells. Can anyone chime in here?

I always wondered why the mossberg 590A can hold 8 in the tube when the barrel is also 20" with a flush magazine tube.

Here's the specs on the 500 and 590 special purpose. Unless the magazine has been modified or something that I don't know of.....I would also like to increase my mossberg 500A persuader maga capacity to 8 if possible...

I believe the stated 8 shell capacity adds in the round that you can have in the chamber (7 + 1).

Back to the OP's question, $200 sounds fair for a Mossberg 500A in good condition.

Yeah, that's exactly what I mean...Mossberg 8 shot means 7+1. 7 in the tube and one in the chamber. However, the OP is saying that his mossberg 500A holds 8 in the tube and one up top, for a total of 9. I wasn't aware that there is a mossberg 500 that holds 9...Only the 590 and the 500 mariner.

Yeah I remember now. When i bought it I thought the ad stated Mossberg 500 Home Defender. I may be wrong it was 9 years ago or so. but it is as you describe it.
As for the ammo loading tube I checked it before I posted. Took 8 ( eight) 2 3/4 shells and loaded it up and it took 8 rounds. the last round was tight but it fit in the loading tube.I took the gun apart to see if there was some sort of stopper or limiting device or crimp in the tube. Looking through the tube there is no stopper or anything. The only thing I can think of is my spring got squished more or the factory put the wrong spring in it.

Either way my neighbor ended up buying the other mossberg I have so I guess Ill keep this one and ill probably want to get one of those remington 870s
