It ran about $4200 as spec'ed out and with 5 tunned mags, about 4 months turnaround time. Brandon Strayer help me spec it out and put it together I would highly recommend that if anyone is interested in a SVI that they call Brandon and have him help you through the "Gun Builder Process". What a super person to deal with and talk to, and the fit and finish are second to none. The test target with the gun was 5 shots @ 50 Yds 0.940-inches

Some chap had one of these at the concord out door range a couple of weeks ago, i saw him shooting it from about 20 yards away and was drawn to its beauty, it realy is incredible to just look at, i think he paid just over $2000 from an old timer at the Valejo gun show. so it sounds like he got a deal based on what this beauty cost.

Custom race guns are meant to be driven hard, like a 10 second 32 round stage. Rat-tat-tat...

I wish I never sold my STI frame. Hey, now I still have these. I just need a milling machine and a lathe.

What is a 2011, and what makes it different from a regular 1911?

Beautiful pistols btw!

Well...the 2011 I have in 38 Super holds 29+1. The 2011 I have in 40S&W holds 20+1.

The 2011 is essentially a widebody version of the 1911. The frame portion that mounts the slide is a similar dimension to the 1911 versions, but the lower half that accepts the magazine is widened to take a larger magazine. These are primarily used for competition, but have been known as side arms for security teams and certain law enforcement. They tend to be very customized (as you can see in the pictures here) but can be purchased off the shelf like the Barstow pictured. I'm sure this isn't everything, and someone else will chime in with more info....

2011 is STI's name for its wide body 1911 pattern guns. The 2011 name is to represent the 21st century version of the 1911 hence the "20"11 rather than "19"11.

Barsto, Caspian and SV-Infinity do not use the 2011 name for thier wide body hi-capacity guns.

Other than that, what bug said is correct. Both Barsto and SV sell these guns in CA.

FWIW, US Army Special Forces is currently testing/using the STI's Tactical model in .40S&W. Other SF-type folks here at Bragg (USASOC, Delta, et. al.) are too.

The Bar-Sto guns are great and it's a shame more don't sell in CA. Frankly, I think they're better than anything that came out of STI's shop with most folks only wanting a STI frame 'cause it says STI on it (see the lame obsessions with Colt and Bushmaster) and then there's the contingency money that STI puts out which is not bad either. ;)

I've been considering buying a Barstow, but it's just too bad they come as they come, essentially the same as an STI Edge. I'd like to change somethings around it and save the frame I currently have for a future build. But for what it's worth, I'd still love to pick one up.

STI Edge except built by one of the top custom shops in the US. The guys at Bar-Sto don't just cut barrels and do grip contours. They KNOW how to build great guns too.

My first 1911 back in 1978 was a Combat Commander with a Bar-sto barrel. It was later modified into a compensated pin gun and it won a lot of trophy's for me. Bar-sto is good folks.

Errr... the Barstos nowadays aren't what you remember Rich...

They're more expensive than the Edge (while essentially the same beast) and Irv has said himself that the dimensions that certain parts (some major components) were cut the "Barsto" way (as well as in bulk) and thus not as interchangeable as those that come off the Edge. Not a bad substitute for a custom built "Limited" gun, especially for CA, but no longer the bee's knees as they once were... still better than a Para :p

That's a shame, but as you said, still a great option in CA especially since, I'm fairly certain I could sell my Brazos gun for over $4k. But then...I wouldn't.
