This may have been talked about b-4...I could not find it...
Has anyone have ,or heard of, any law enforcment,DOJ at any public shooting range making sure everyones guns conform to Kalifornias "STUPID" laws?? ARs and AKs and others of course....What if they did not fall in line with the law....Felonys,fines,jail.....Its a crime in itself that a hard working tax paying person can get a felony for a pistol grip,or ,detachable mag...ABSURD!!!!

I believe in fact it's a bit the opposite, and they laid off on range "inspections" as politically too 'hot' - accentuated by Iggy's nailing of some cops with unreg'd AWs at a police shoot in Gilroy back in 2000-2001 timeframe.
It would also be difficult to tell without individual query because quite a few people have registered AWs, which can have all 'evil features'.
However, anyone relying on that is stupid - and discourteous to the range owners and fellow shooters, who I am sure don't want their favorite spot to be a venue for illegal activities.
And I do have to say, from the tenor of your posting here, it sounds like you might have intentions of some sort of illegal conduct if you don't think you'll get caught. Don't come whining here if you're popped.

And I do have to say...Whats your problem Bill...I was just asking a question..Everyone complains about the laws...I have too much to lose to not follow the rules...Do you call everyone a whiner who asks a "what if " question...Take it easy man....

We sometimes get trolling folks here asking about borderline or illegal activities. These folks may be trying to cast an unfavorable light on Calguns & its members as non-law-abiding and may be working for Bradys or LE agencies.
To my reading, your phrasing gave off more than a hint of "can I get away with this". Apologies if you didn't mean it, but it still had that aura - work on your writing skills if you want to be taken seriously.

I believe it was not your inference?
But I too felt the same tenor of your post as well.

My bad..Wrong wording..I know some people that have pre-ban rifles that are registered, but are worried that some "buckaroo LEO" might give them a hard time at the range..I read a post about a So.Cal OLL dealer that got raided by misinformed police...Was wondering if some people might have the same problem as the OLL dealer...If some poor guy from another state who does not know gets caught..Attorney fees,etc..No harm intended....Cal gun laws just piss me off.....

Oddly reminiscent of member KMK's posts .,. .,. .,. .,. must be me. Not to be negative as this site is the best resource for california gun related questions, but some basic grammar really helps to convey a message.

I've shot an off-list rifle at the same range as Iggy Himself (while he was still with DOJ). Zero issues. IMO cops aren't going to ranges looking for this kind of thing, which is good. Range owners usually have a good relationship with LE, that might change if LE started chasing off customers.
Tell your friends with registered AWs to relax, and carry a copy (IIRC, you don't have to keep the original with 'em, so keep a copy and keep the original safe) of the registration with them.

Tell you friends to put a copy of their reg papers in their gun case, go to the range and have fun.

Go easy on bwiese. He's just a more technical (and more educated, probably more smart, too - but I'm better looking :p ) guy than I am. I've met him and he's a great guy.

In MOP there is always the chance of an inspection by an off-duty LEO or even an LEO Ranger if the Range is part of a Park District such as Chabot, so its best to do things legal and stay out of trouble, and dont' bring the heat down on the sport.
I have read about, but never seen DOJ types hanging out at Ranges looking for violations but it has been several years since I read this. As BWiese stated the DOJ may no longer have the funding for these activities, and they may not have the interest as it seems their focus may have changed when the staff was changed with the re-org.
This leaves the possibility of an inspection by an off-duty LEO that IS familiar with firearms and happens to also be shooing at the range. If your a young looking person with a true AW, it may peak the interest of an informed LEO if it is registered to you etc. After the first CA AW Ban I was eyeballed at Chabot on a weekday by two other guys shooting a police type mini-14 and a PSS. We were the only shooters there and they kept walking by my bench looking at my rifles, mags etc. At that time, is I was a young looking mid-twenties kid, so I am sure they wondered, but they never challenged me.
