So I'm planning on buying a pistol from a seller down in Southern California.

Right now I'm DROS'ing a Steyr M9 which I pick up on the 21st. I would like to buy the gun from the private party on Friday the 27th, and avoid the 30 day wait. The way I understand it is if he ships it to my gun shop, it has to go into dealer inventory which means I have to wait 30 days plus 10 days from the 21st of this month before I can pick up.

Questions.
Would I be able to DROS the PPT despite it not being a FTF transaction by performing a remote PPT? If so...how?

I've been searching and I'm very confused by this remote PPT thing.
mainly the confusion comes from this thread

I am the seller, I did a search on it too and according to the last few posts in this thread, doesn't seem like it's a go.

Probably also very hard to find an FFL who would be willing to do it.

if he ships the gun to the FFL, then it's not a PPT. Both parties must be present for a PPT.

Also, there are no time restrictions on PPT. Get all you want. 30 Day wait on dealer purchases.

One-Handgun-per-Thirty-Days-Requirement
No person shall make an application to purchase more than one handgun within
any 30-day period. Exemptions to the one-handgun-per-thirty-days requirement
include pawn returns, intra-familial transfers and private party transfers [PC
section 12072 (a)].

A "remote PPT" using "split FFL" can be run between two CA residents using two CA FFLs via a "Gun Show transaction" DROS method.

Calgunner 'mscale5' ('mscales5'??) who is an FFL got this from DOJ dealer support and wrote it up a year or so ago.

The source CA FFL has to have the seller fill out his side of the form, and he takes copies of the necessary ID etc. (whatever's required). He then ships this whole kit & kaboodle along with the firearm to destination CA FFL, where the buyer completes the PPT paperwork.

The big problem is that most FFLs haven't delved into this, and there's not much money involved for the grief level involved. When you find cooperating FFLs that do this, make sure they're compensated for the extra grief - don't hound 'em with "But PPTs are only $30!" (or whatever it is).
