Hello all,

Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket barrel made for another Sig model would fit the P225/P6 as well? Or are the barrels for the P225/P6 unique? Thanks.

Bar-Sto was supposedly going to make a limited production run on P225 barrels though I'm not sure how that panned out. You can get the EFK Fire Dragon replacement barrel.

Here's an EFK P225/P6 barrel: http://www.auctionarms.com/search/displayitem.cfm?itemnum=8199089

pklin,

If you get the EFK barrel, please post a review.

I'm very curious about them, as I'm sure many other P6 & 225 owners are as well.

Never really thought of EFK as a good high end barrel maker and reviews are mixed. Somehow I think the factory barrel will be more accurate but if I do try I will post review.

Wait...
Why are you seeking a replacement barrel for you Sig P225/P6?
Is it already "shot-out"?

I want to know the answer too. I shot my P6 last weekend and the accuracy is superb, like 2" groups at 10yards off hand, considering it's not my regular pistol I shoot often. It did have one FTF with a hollow point round. I polished up the ramp of the barrel and tested with inert hollow point rounds and so far so good.

There is really no need to change the barrel of the P6. Remember, those are cop guns- carried more, shot less.

SIG Sauer’s recommended maintenance and parts replacement schedule (as of March 2008):

Barrel: If the pistol exhibits keyholing or unacceptable accuracy.
Decocking lever spring: 10,000
Extractor: 20,000
Extractor spring: 20,000
Firing pin: 20,000
Firing pin spring: 20,000
Magazine spring: When magazine fails to lock the slide open. *
Recoil spring: 5,000 †
Safety lock spring: 20,000
Slide catch lever spring: 10,000
Takedown lever: 20,000
Trigger bar spring: 10,000

Mainspring (hammer spring): 5000 or when misfires due to light hammer strikes occur and other causes have been eliminated. Note that this is my own recommendation; SIG Sauer makes no recommendation about the mainspring in the armorer manual. I was told by a fellow armorer, however, that when he asked about it SIG’s informal guidance was that a mainspring should last 40,000 rounds.

* I also recommend replacing the magazine spring when ammunition is not held securely. This can occur before slide lock failures.

† I had seen an early recommendation here that the recoil spring be replaced after 3000 rounds, and that's what I follow.

SIG considers the extractor used in P220 stainless steel slides to be a “sacrificial” part, and that it should be replaced after it’s removed from the slide.

Sorry, let me clearify my original motive for writing this post... Thought about it before in anticipation of these responses... :)

I am just being curious. And I'm having P6 thread withdrawals because people stopped talking about them. :D

Really, I'm not looking to replace my P6 barrel as it looks better than my Kimber 1911 barrel that is barely shot. Just a "I wonder what would happen if..." type of question.

Frankly for the cost of the gun, but another and enjoy the extra magazines!

i would be happy to see more p6 posts. i am waiting on turners to get mine in stock. i rented a sig226 at a range one time and didn't really like it. i only shot about 100 rounds but it seemed top heavy for me and too much muzzle flip for a 9mm. i know they are good guns and i don't think i gave it a fair shake so i now have that p6 waiting to be DROSed. i hope i can warm up to it after a few more range trips.

Not having shot the P220 or my P6 yet, I don't know how the single stacked Sigs would fair for me either. I've never been able to shoot the double stacked Sigs well so it was never on my to-purchase list until now. Once I shoot my P6 I'll either love it or hate it, then keep it or sell it respectively. We'll see... So far after detail stripping it, I'd have to say I really admire the engineering of the Sigs, and the quality of their aluminum anodizing of the frame.

A Bar-sto for the P6 would be nice, but a 5-month wait is quite a long time... If I do decide to keep my P6 for a while, a second range barrel (so I can keep the original in its current condition for resale purposes) may be worth while...

My first Sig was the P6 P225 that I picked up from Turners, and from there I picked up two more Sigs. I have to say that even though I am a lefty, I love the ergonomics of Sig pistols.

They are still looking for a few more to make their 50 minimum. I am not sure if they are buying only threaded barrels, or if you can get a standard barrel in that one.

I too would be interested in hearing from someone who has used one of their barrels - in any model Sig.

Top Gun Supply is also supposed to be getting in some P6 barrels: https://www.topgunsupply.com/Sig-P225-Replacement-Barrel-9mm-pr-1406.html

I don't know, you would have to contact them. I doubt if it is a Sig barrel, as most of the other barrels they offer are listed as Sig Factory, and this one plus a couple of others are not. I think they orderd a run from someone to cash in on the P6 invasion.
