I don't know if this has been posted before, but I just spent some time running down the code sections cited in William M. Weise's "Cop Memo" (http://www.calguns.net/copmemo2.pdf).
I learned that the sections of California regulations have been moved and renumbered, from Division 1, Chapter 12.8, to Division 5, Chapter 39. The Section 978.20(a), which contains the definition of "detachable magazine" was moved to Section 5469. The wording was not changed.
