www.ammunitiontogo.com has .380 Gold Dot for $250/1k or $65/250 ($13/box of 50), which is a pretty excellent price - at 26 cents per round, that's about the same as cheap brass FMJ .380 costs. There's a catch - these are seconds:

This is 380 Auto Speer Gold Dot 90gr. Hollow Point Ammo. This ammo was manufactured for a law enforcement agency and did not pass the submersion test. So the sealant failed around the primer or case mouth. All that means is that this ammo may not function if you submerge it underwater. This ammo was then put in 250rd. boxes and sold to the civilian market. This is still excellent ammo and functions flawlessly. Most commercial ammo is not sealed anyway, so the sealant failing is not a big deal. Take advantage of the savings on this ammo. It is 75% off the regular price of 380 auto Gold Dot. This ammo will come packed loose in 250rd. boxes.

Speer cleared out a bunch of 9mm and .380 seconds (rare hard primers) years ago through Ammoman, for about $9/50 back then. I ran through thousands of rounds of this ammo in both of these calibers with no problems, and always wished I had stocked up on more when it was so cheap.

Anyway, this is great practice ammo, especially to check that your .380 will run Gold Dot reliably. You can get the first run ammo for serious use and test it thoroughly with these for the same price as FMJ range ammo.

I just ordered up 500 rounds. I'll probably regret not getting more...

My favorite .380 ammo. Great stuff, especially as practice ammo.
