I found this muzzle brake on ebay for literally 8.00. It says it is 14x1mm LH. This will fit a Zastava Npap right? Also, why is it rifled on the inside?

That's a grenade spigot. I personally would not own one in CA. I think they are banned. Someone will come along and correct me.

They are. Yugo SKS have to be altered before you can bring them into this state. : /

Well on m70s with shut off gas blocks those would work with the right accoutrement. So I would not buy it. It is considered a destructive device. It is an m70 yugo spigot.

Fun stuff = illegal

Whats accoutrement?

A grenade..... I know in fun states people are allow to have them and they launch dummy/practice bullet trap grenades for fun. But California won't let us do that.

Whole Lotta FUD you guys are spreading.
By the same logic an A2 flash hider is illegal and a destructive device because guess what? It was designed to launch grenades!

Its a muzzle extension device/brake. It can be used for making your underfolder or side etc to 30 inches. It measure exactly 5.5 inches Why would it be illegal?

I think the bigger question is WHY you would put that on the end of your AK...

Maybe instead of buying a cheap and ugly attachment that does nothing, you should spend a couple more bucks and buy a proper and functional muzzle accouterment.

I agree.
Are you missing your brake? If not, what is wrong with the factory piece?

State law is the issue, not federal law.

This is the problem with Yugoslavia SKS grenade launchers that attach to the barrel: http://oag.ca.gov/firearms/zastava

The yugo AK version is similar enough that I believe it to be illegal. Because it attaches to the barrel to launch grenades.

That's not fud. It's reasonable.

I found this. Im probly wrong but i believe the acutal "rocket or grenade"is what is illegal. The part which say launching device ia whats confusing me. Is it "rocket launcher" its self or some thing you can add to launch "rockets" Again im more than likely wrong however.

California Penal Code 16460, which reads in part: "Any rocket, rocket-propelled projectile, or similar device of a diameter greater than 0.60 inch, or any launching device therefor, and any rocket, rocket-propelled projectile, or similar device containing any explosive or incendiary material or any other chemical substance, other than the propellant for that device, except those devices as are designed primarily for emergency or distress signaling purposes."

you can use that to make the folder yugo the perfect legal length when folded
some yugos cant use ordinary muzzle extensions as they wont cycle
why, who knows but ive seen it happen personally

but that one will allow it to cycle fine

if you think it could be used as a destructive device, because we all know how easy it is to find grenades to launch off of it

you could drill a bunch of holes along the sides, take off the metal snap ring on it

this way your not looking to launch grenades you just use it for length

There are lots of muzzle brakes out there for not much more; the AK74 style is great (make sure you get a 7.62 version). If you have a locked magazine, here's two pages worth of flash suppressors http://www.cncwarrior.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=1884

Here's from the cali DOJ website on yugo 59/66 sks rifles. The page is kind of misleading because it makes it look the rifle itself is illegal but it really only is with the grenade launcher attached. I would assume it would be the same way with a launcher on an AK.
