Listen, brethren, to the tale of pinned grip safeties no more!
Shooting grip combined with hand injury made depressing GS an iffy thing -- pinning still had play ion it -- Novak's has the answer -- a ONE PIECE beavertail and mainspring housing they have created -- seen here on my Kimber II --
That plus thin Alumagrips make the gun usable again!
Very cool! Did you have Novak's install it or a local smith? If you don't mind me asking, what did it cost to have it done? Very clean...

The Answer for Kimbers is supposed a "drop in" affair that any gunsmith can do. TOther 1911s need fitting. The Answer unit itself is installed by Novak when they are doing installation if other custom goodies -- they don't like to install it alone -- although they might if asked.

How much was the part for your Kimber? I have the Tactical Custom ll model.

Sights, trigger job, answer and installation were north of $1500 -- I have to find the receipt and figure out how it broke down, but Wayne said that he (at the time) that he would only install the answer if he was doing other work on the gun. While the part requires usually little fitting, putting it on a Kimber II also means that have to take out the "ii" series safety, because the answer would have the bar raised all the time and you wouldn't be able to field strip the gun. Oddly, though I've had 1911 competition guns that had their GSs pinned, I'm still nervous picking up this "one safety-less" .45

What kind of hand injury? Wouldn't want to be down range if your hand spasms acted up
