Looks all legal to me. Semi-Auto, 30", fixed 10/30 mag. Don't see any problems with it.

BUMP for a nice AK

Look closely at the magazine release. It has a bullet button. You need to have a tool to remove the mag for service. You can have all the evil features to it as long its OLL, BB device, and Min. ten round fixed to it. There are magazines out there that looks like its 30 rounds but in fact it is limited to 10. Follow daves100 link and read up. By the way when you get the disease, spread it.

I was at lyle creek and shot that very rifle. I have to say that is a great rifle. Not one jam.

Why O why did you go and weld on that bullet button? You've doomed that gun to a life in California without a chance to escape ;)

Because it's a great big pain the the nether-region to try to fit that tiny little screw all the way through the mag release.....:D

Serioulsy, it's easier to take the weld off than it is to try to get the rivet back through the mag release...plus you're totally CA Legal like that...

Heavyhits is a good guy to deal with don't hesitate, and this is one nice ak. If I didn't have one already I would snatch this one up from him. I was also there at Lytle Creek and saw this AK in person. No jams whatsoever and a nice build.

If it's indeed California legal and you are ever within 30 miles of San Jose I would take it.

If that folding stock is pinned and fixed, yes.

If not, you can't because you must have minimum 30" with stock folded and AK's (with their 16" barrels) are less than 30" when folded.

you can have a functioning folding stock if you put a 4 inch extension on the end of the barrel-amd extended brake, fake can.as long as you get the 30 inch over all length, youre legit.

It would be harder to put a underfolder than a side folder on this one. Sidefolder uses the same rear trunion. An underfolder you have to demill the rear trunion and make a few different holes to utilize the underfolder. The side folder works just as well. After using heavyhits ak at lyle creek, I have to say that his ak ergonomically works real nice. Of all the rounds I fired, all the bullets all went off with no problems. Who ever grabs this will not be disappointed.

A few quick questions:

Who built the gun?

Do you have any closeups of the rivets? Especially the rear trunnion rivets?

Has the rifle been refinished or is it in the original Romy / NDS finish?

the receiver is NDS-parkerized....It's Tapco furniture but I've got the original furniture from the Romy kit, unfinished.

I can get pics of the rivets up soon...give me a sec to get my camera charged, but I'll get em up....

A friend and I built it...it was one of my first builds so he really aided me along...he's built several and taught me the ins and outs....

Hoep that answers some of your questions..
