Just picked up my new Barrett Rec 7 and a .458 socom from Rock River Arms.
I have a Trujicon TA31D for the Rec 7 and thinking about a aimpoint for the socom. The only other additions I have planned for the Rec 7 are a Miad Grip and a Magpul UBR stock. Both have bullet buttons installed, but thinking about purchasing a few of the new B-15 style that just came out.
One thing I was worried about with the Rec-7 was finding a 10 round 6.8 magazines. My fears were alleviated when I found out that Precision reflex (419-629-2603) www.pri-mounts.com had already made them. I picked up a few of those and life is good!

One intersting side note..both rifles in the pictures have 10 round magazines. The thing is that the socom .458 uses a standard 30 round ar-15 magazine. The magazine is even stamped .223/5.56 on it.
I wonder what the legal aspects are. The magazine only holds 10 .458 rounds. Therefore, i assume it would be legal to use the magazine in the gun (10 round magazine is a 10 round magazine). But what about purchasing magazines? Shouldnt it be legal to buy a 10 round .458 magazine and ship it to california? Of course, all my HK 30 rounds are from stamped 94' so Im not really worried about it, but it brings up a interesting legal point regarding the magazine and its 10 round use in a .458.

(fixed the pictures!)

Regarding the .458 Socom mag being a 10 rounder, I believe it must be stamped with .458. Yours being marked .223/5.56 does not make it a .458 magazine. I've read on here that people are buying those Socom 10 rounders so maybe its legal. Someone on here should be able to give you better legal advice.

It's just like my .40 cal GLOCK's 10 round mags. They are labeled as .40, however they will fit more than 10 rounds of 9mm.

People with 10 round .458 mags generally have them engraved with

10 ROUNDS .458 SOCOM ONLY

or something in that form.

So are they grinding off the .223 stamp and engraving .458 themselves or is someone actually selling mags that are stamped .458 socom?

You're gonna dig that .458. It is good to see that RRA is finally shipping them, I got mine from Marty at Teppojutsu and it is very cool indeed. I'd love to go hunt some piggies with it.

LMAO, thats exactly what I have planned for it. Im not a big hunter (not into deer or bear) but pigs, coyotes, and the occasional squirrel and tweety bird are fair game. Ive been thinking about taking up turkey hunting as well with the scatter gun. Ive heard they are extremely hard to hunt and have excellent eyesight.
