Thought I'd share some pics of some of my WWII US military stuff. Everything in this picture was made during the big one, including the ammo.

In no particular order:

Underwood M1 Carbine, 5-43
Colt M1911-A1, 6-42
Savage made M1928-A1 submachine gun, 6-42
Remington M1903(M), 10-42
Smith-Corona M1903-A3, 1-43
M1 Garand, 1-45
Savage M720 used for aerial gunnery training and US property marked, 1942

Awesome! Down to the hot scratchy green wool blankets which have been used and reused by soldiers for a millennium.

They never made a 1928-A1 as a semi. To be able to have a class 3 weapon is one of the reasons I left the PRC

So cool. That's what my paltry WW2 collection aspires to. I have a long way to go.

Great collection - nicely photographed.

Reising and BAR in the future?
Just to complete the .45 and .30-06" compliment.
I understand the M1A1 Greasegun's are just ugly.
But, as the collection is almost so complete why not :)

I want a BAR so bad I can taste it, but they are rather pricey. As it is, you can buy a rather nice car for what a WWII Thompson sells for. A Colt 1921 is about twice the price of a Savage.

It has always amazed me the passion for collecting items associated with the prohibition era gangsters , but what is fact is that items form the era command a price. The 1921 Thompsons, and anything even remotely associated with that era is golden.
I know the quality was better on those older guns, but, quality by itself has never been an assured indicator of value.

As to the BAR, yes a C&R one is going to be rich, but the semi's are well made and fun.
Your collection is all wonderfully authentic, so I suppose a semi BAR would be out of place :)

Thank you. I think that one of the most important things to remember if you want to take decent pictures is to use a good camera. I use a Canon Rebel T3, which is an entry level DSLR camera. Cell phone pictures will always look like they were taken with a phone.

The other thing is the composition of your pictures. Lighting is important as is making sure that there is no clutter in the background. Someones feet in a picture just ruins it for me. Too much clutter is bad too, if your subject is too busy it looses a lot of the impact. I could have put more guns in the picture, but when you've seen one 03-A3 you have seen them all.

I also use a picture editor to clean up and crop pictures. With a 20 megapixel camera you can crop a picture down to amazingly detailed closeups. This is a picture of the buttstock of the carbine cropped out of the main picture.

Very cool! My first thought when reading what you posted was "Where's the combat knife?" But then I scrolled down and saw that you've got one. Nice! I've got the one my father carried in battle in France.

I have a Winchester '17. It just goes in with the WWI stuff. That will be my next group picture.:43:

I understand the M1A1 Greasegun's are just ugly.

It is ugly, I had a chance to handle one about 15 years ago, it was.....greasy. But apparently Larry Vickers would take one over Thompson. Seems like the slow rate of fire is actually very beneficial for control. Apparently the Thompson is awful to control and too heavy, plus the mag loading is a nightmare.

Who would have thought a cost cutting measure would make such a good war gun........
