I was too cold outside to do any yard work so I decided to take a few pictures of my new acquisition.
I thought you might enjoy a some shots of one of the delights that those of us that live in a free state get to enjoy. This Thompson '28-A1 was made by Savage in 1942 and is in original condition.

Nice Thompson.
Is that quite a late 1928A1? - I imagine they went to M1A1 around that time.
Great looking example.

This particular one was made in June of '42. They switched over to M1 production around October.

I can't wait to live in a free state! The Thompson has such an iconic look that everyone recognizes them. The reproductions are quite heavy, around 11 pounds, how much does yours weigh?

I haven't weighed it, but it is pretty darn heavy!

Nice rifle..... one day I will call a free state home, I'll probably have to divorce my wife to do it.... but one day.

I love the simplicity of the rear sight. Is it slightly higher than the charging handle?

There is a U shaped channel machined through the actuator handle. You more or less look through it when you fire the weapon.

Sooo Sweet!! That's one on my must have bucket list. It's what my Dad carried for 3 1/2 years. I have a cracked forearm for starters. PAX

The gun used by Vic Morrow in 'Combat' was sold off when MGM sold their props, I saw it being re-sold somewhere awhile ago.
When I move to a free state I'd like to SBR a semi auto Thompson. A real Thompson is too rich for my blood.
The armored car company that I once worked for owned two Colt 1921 Thompsons in mint condition. They didn't have any magazines for them so I made a gift of two 20 rounders to them pre 2000.

I grew up watching Combat! and I always wanted to have guns like were carried on the show. I have been fortunate enough to have most of them. The one that eluded me was Sgt. Saunders' Thompson. Now that I have one I am going to try to get a BAR.
