I recently acquired this in a trade. This is a Winchester 69A, chambered in 22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle. It's a bit rusty and needs a bit of work, but its in relatively good condition after sitting in a closet for thirty years.

I'm missing the bolt for it, so I'm going to have to look around for one. Otherwise it's completely intact. I think I did pretty well!

I do have a question about this particular rifle though; how do I tell what year it was made? It doesn't have a serial number, so I know it was made before 1968 (production stopped in 1963). There are relatively few other markings on it aside from whats on the barrel and the scope mount.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I like it when someone's able to take something that's been sitting in the closet forever and bring it back to life and take it shooting for another hundred years.

"gun parts corporation" out of New York State has lots of parts and occasionally some nice diagrams to help you find what you're looking for.

and "Jack First gun parts " has great phone customer service and they really know their stuff.

the good news is you have the magazine and that might have been a harder to find.

it looks like a real classic just clean and put some oil on it.

You did great.
what did you trade for it?

Try classic firearm parts:

I refurbished the win model 69 that had been sitting in the closet (that I gt from my dad) a could of years ago. I inadvertently ordered the 69A bolt instead of the 69 bolt.

Scott was very nice about and after I sent he wrong bolt back he sent me the correct one. No restocking fees, or other charges.

And, as of that time he had what you're looking for in stock!

Made 1935 to 1963, with 355,363 made, and no serial numbers on any of them.
Spectre, what kind of scope is that? Anything on it?

presuming the receiver isn't grooved for tip-off scope mounts, that rifle was made sometime between 1938 and 1954.

between '37 and '41 some were supplied with winchester brand 2.5 or 5 power scopes from the factory.

early 69's were cock-on-closing, with a cocking knob at the rear of the bolt. be sure the bolt you buy is not configured that way.

The scope says "Weaver G4 Patented El Paso, Texas"

The receiver is drilled and tapped on the left side for the scope mount, but doesn't appear to me grooved.
