Had office refuse to accept delivery of UPS from Armalite of AR-10T upper for OLL build. Still worried about this wonderful state I live in. May start with smaller 223... waiting to see if MMG XCR or SIG will be available...

So you ordered it, then refused the delivery?

You clearly have not caught the bug yet.

Hmm, how did they refuse the delivery? Its not like they would know what is in the package. I had all sorts of stuff shipped to myself at work and never had a problem cause the mail room is not to open packages.

Not quite sure what you're worried about. There's nothing remotely "gray" in buying an upper. They aren't controlled, which is why they can be mailed to your door.

Did your office refuse it b/c it was gun related or did you tell your office to refuse it?
If you intentionally refused the delivery, you are out of your mind and a PITA buyer. EDIT: with the backstory that the OP put in Post #14, his actions seem more reasonable. Perhaps if the story wasn't told in bits and pieces it would have made more sense to begin with and everyone wouldn't be scratching their heads and/or jumping on the OP. According to the OP, he says the seller told him to refuse the package since he told the seller ahead of time that he didn't want it (but after it had already shipped)
Uppers are not firearms. There is nothing even remotely gray about having an upper that has the proper length barrel.
If I were the seller, I would blacklist you from ordering from me again in fear that you will just refuse delivery of anything and everything you order.

Why would you order something then refuse it when it came? Why order it? If you ordered it and changed your mind, why not call and tell them to cancel the order(if it hadn't shipped yet), or receive it then call get your return # and send it back.

Why would you panic over an upper?

Don't waste everyones time by having your office receptionist do your dirty work.

Do you re-route your package? I don't suppose you have your office as Mailing or Collection Location address?

I was told that the upper was backordered. I told them to let me know when it was available. Then I continued doing my research into what kind of gun I was going to make (calguns posts about XCRs and Sigs and FALs had me rethinking a Noveske/Ar 308). Came home from a meeting to find Email that they broke an upper loose in warehouse. I called and said I was having second thoughts -- but they had already shipped it ASAP. The saleswoman was cool, she acknowledged she jumped the gun too and TOLD ME to refuse the shipment and it would go right back. Having tangled with the Justice System in the past and survived (at an incredible cost) I have a lot of assets I am afraid of endangering. That is why I came to this site, to work through all these things -- I JUMPED at the idea of a 308 -- then my Socom II/Jae arrived and I started thinking I had 308 covered and went BACK to thinking 223. It's a process. I'm exposing my thought process on the site. The only reason it went to my office and not my home is I knew I would be out of town on biz (New York) the last week or so and I did not want the upper sitting on my porch. (where my EX-WIFE would get her hands on it and do who knows what, okay!?)

I'm trying to get as confident in the flow chart's interpretation of the CA laws as clearly the REST of you are.

OK. But please dont get all rattled at us, it is obvious to everyone but yourself that the original post was a little vague. I say buy a 308 and a 223 thats what I did. And then I did it again and again and again...............................

If I may offer a few simple suggestions:
1. DECAF!
2. You are thinking WAY too much, way too fast. Slow down. Better yet, think less. Best, don't think at all!
3. Repeat afer me: "I am no longer living in NY." I not sure Hollywood is an improvement though.
4. Quick worrying about ex wives - I've got several and worrying about it doesn't help anything. Ask me how I know this.
5. Go shoot the SOCOM, it will clear your head.

I have several EX's also:eek: and none of them are in Texas. This is good advice. Quit thinking like a New Yorker. Yes, you are now in the socialist State of Kalifornia:TFH: Buy both and save.:)

How much time/effort went into you're research?

No offense meant here, but how tough is it to understand that AR10 Rifle is listed and banned, but the AR10 Upper is not a rifle or firearm at all and cannot be banned? The only part of an Armalite AR10 that is banned is the lower receiver which is the actual "firearm" component of the gun.

Good luck with your .223 quest though. If you have any questions about legalities, don't hesitate to search here for the answer. The flow-chart is a great guide, but just about every question about the logic (or lack there of) relating to AW status of most firearms has been asked and answered here.

Offense taken. :)
I said I was going to put the upper on a Noveske OLL, the research I was doing was 308 vs 223. I have a cr*pload of 223 ammo and no gun to shoot it in. 308 (good 308) is getting as pricey as unleaded premium! I didn't want to have a $1K upper sitting here I wasn't going to build.

And just ordered a Robinson Arms XCR Version II with MMG. It will take a couple months but then I'll post all for the world to see.

(223 -- they are making 7.62x39s now as well)

I want ten minutes of my life back...

This is akin to saying, "I went and bought a widget, then decided to return it."

??? What are we supposed to say to that? Good for you?

anyway, just messing with you - have fun with your toys and stay away from your exwife (why is she going to your porch anyway?)

good shooting
