I just ordered one today. I hope it is everything they say it is. It did feel good in my hands. Besides, it'll piss off the anti gun crowd.

A close friend of mine purchased the Sig 556 about a month ago. He had to order it with a prince 50 kit on it to make it CA legal. The Sig 556 is not listed in the ban, therefore it is legal as long as it does not have any of the prohibited features. It is a very nice gun but in my opinion it is no AR-15. It is a little front heavy as opposed to the well balanced feel of an AR-15. Also I should mention that price wise comparing base models of both guns, the Sig will cost at least a couple hundred dollars more. I think he paid about $1400.00 for his after everything. Performance is great, no problems so far and it groups tightly at 50 yards. Great firing rifle. Either way I think anyone would be pleased but I would pick the AR.

the sig 556 is flat out a better rifle as far a reliabilty goes. Any one who says difference doesnt know what they are talking about.

on the flip side there is the pirce factor to consider. Also the AR platform is more farmiliar with people so its naturally going to be favored over something new. I am very familiar with the AR due to my Military and LEO experience so i enjoy a good AR.

I would like to get a sig though.

as far as the people who say its front heavy, i myself have not noticed that, and if you end up putting rails on the front of your ar (like most people do) the weight ends up being the same anyways.

Design convinced me to get one, purchased from the fine folks at 10%. I added the brand new Samson rail as soon as they were shipping.
I've since added the CompM4 and x3 magnifier, ARMS 40L at the rear and Samson flip-up at the front.

I don't want to hijack the tread, but now I want a sig 556! I like Sig pistols. How do you get one in CA? Is there a place that sells them with the BB installed?

Ammo Brothers in Cerritos has about 5 or 6 on the rack with BB's installed, for $1499 I believe.

I always wanted a Sig 550. But they are banned by name and cost upwards of $10,000. So when they 556 was announced I jumped through all the hoops to get one and get it into CA. I think I brought the first one in, though I cannot confirm it.

You got yours right before I got mine, and I'm damned sure we were within the first five 556 owners in CA.
