I was watching a reality show on A&E called "Detroit Swat" and some of the guys were at the range target practicing with their ARs and they said they gave their rifles names. Since i also named my rifle, i was wondering how many other people have named theirs... (if this thread has already been posted then send me the link and ill repost there and the mods can delete this one =) But anyways, I named my rifle "longsword". Anybody else named their rifles and would like to share?

If I actually spent time to name them all it would be a waste, I'd just forget the names. I prefer to just say "I took a <insert type here> out today."

I'm sure there will be a bunch of guys with rifles named "Charlene" chiming in tho.

I don't usually name my guns - heck, so far none of my guns really have a name. But lately I've been referring to my .50DTC AR build as "Caliburn." Seems like a suitable name for a .50 to me.

Only one of my firearms has a name. It's a lightweight, 30-inch, featureless AR with 30 round detachable mags, and a no-battery-needed Trijicon optic. It's name is "Katrina".

"The Sig". As in, "Shot The Sig today", could also be "The P220". ;)

Besides my wife my three favorite ladies are 1) R & D Custom built M700 in AICS stock - Savannah (she's the one my wife says is her biggest competitor for my affections); Chandler M40A1 - Kelly; Savage Mk II 22LR - Caroline

I have other weapons and they all have names (such as my Mossberg 500 who I affectionately call Thumper) but these three, especially Savannah, I hold the dearest.

Does anyone call their guns by their SN? lol

I do when I have more than one copy of a given brand name.
For example, I have #65 and #68 of the Calguns lowers.
Guess which cartridges they are being built up for...

slick_711
06-01-2008, 10:22 PM
Just three, an AR and two 1911s.

My first AR was named Luci, after an old girlfriend. Because no matter how much crap I gave her (bad ammo), no matter how much I stepped out on her (shot other guns), and no matter how much I didn't deserve her (couldn't shoot to it's potential), she (both rifle & said ex) was always there for me to treat me right and never failed to do what I needed from her. But much like the girlfriend, the AR was stolen from me, so it's a name I equate with sorrow now.

My 1911s are Gram & Grani. As such, I intend to take them both to Asgard with me.

The rest of my guns are nameless. My buddy likes to refer to the new AR as "baby" and I jestingly refer to the 700 as AT&T, but neither of those sticks enough to be "named."

I was never into naming my firearms (or any other inanimate object), but if I had to... I'd have to name every gun I have, Heather Mills. They are all hell bent on draining me of every last cent to my name.

Does anyone call their guns by their SN? lol

I'm really good with numbers (at least, associating patterns with numbers) so I can recite the SNs of all my firearms. :chris: (but not always the one for my m44, which I have trouble with. some numbers are just too random to get a pattern out of them)

EDIT: oh yeah, I don't name my guns. It makes me feel like I've given them a personality or a will of their own, and that's what the anti-gunners try to do.

I bet you know your drivers license, all your license plates and all your credit card numbers by heart as well.
I love finding the number patterns too.

I'm coming up on post number 7654 which is very exciting for me.

Don't have one, but since you asked, I just decided to name my Win 94 .30-30 after my Dad (RIP), who gave it to me when I was about 14 or so.

Hereafter, it shall be known as "Ed".

I saw a .300 Magnum rifle in a store once. Blued finish, black synth stock, and scope. The first thing that came to mind was: "The Headsman".
