walmart carries the same Remmington UMC 20 round greenboxes. 55 grain and 45 grain hollowpoints. When I said 9 dollars, that included tax. I NEVER buy ammo from big5.

Make me go out to the garage and find a box, OK, did it. Remington UMC 55 GR. MC L223R3. 20/box about $8.00. HP's are a bit more, but I never get them. And yes, Wallyworld is Wal*Mart. They have some great ammo prices. 100Ct WWB .25 ACP was about $29 last time I got some. With the possible new laws coming, I think I need to spend more time at Wallyworld stocking up. If you live in SF, Alameda or COCO counties you are out of luck though.

Any Walmart not in Alameda or Contra Costa counties should carry them. it'd be a good idea to call ahead to find out if they have what you want in stock so you don't end up driving out there and leaving empty handed.

Actually Solano Co. Call ahead though, the WM's I tried had poor ammo selections as far as 223 went. Canyon Sports in Mart. used to have tons of the Remmy green box for 8.99. You could call them to confirm.

I don't know about the rest of Contra Costa but the Walmart in Martinez sells ammo.

I went there over a year ago and they had no ammo and was told they do not carry it any longer due to liability:rolleyes:
Have you been more recently?

Not true.

I know of at least 4 walmarts in SD which carry ammo, where I've personally stocked up on 9mm, 12GA, and .223 if the price is right:

3382 Murphy Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA
710 Dennery Rd, San Diego, CA
1360 Eastlake Pky, Chula Vista, CA

The aero drive walmart by clairemonte mesa(next to frys electronics) Has remingtons 45 and 55 grain .223 in 50 round boxes for $25, picked up 5 boxes. They also have 20 round boxes of hollowpoint for $18. They also have 100 round boxes of .45acp for like $25 got bunch of those too. The same for the walmart in santee off of mission gorge road, and at BIG 5 in El Cajon across from that mall, I think its on fletcher hills? All have the umc, .223 in 45 and 55 grain 50 round boxes for $25.

May take that with a grain of salt. I have not been there in a while and a few other posters said they stopped selling it at that store.

I'll be over that way in a few days and will stop in and check.

I don't know about the rest of Contra Costa but the Walmart in Martinez sells ammo.

Can you provide some proof of this.

I have been to this China-Mart maybe a dozen times in the last year and definitely no ammo.

They have a few shooting supplies, or I guess you can call it. The shooting clays is about the only thing I buy though.

When they first opened they had ammo and even sold guns, but actually never sold one I believe as that state AG lawsuit against them had just started when they opened. I remember looking at the rifles in the round about show case thinking I would buy that 870 for $249 they had but alas was told all firearms sales in CA were on hold till the lawsuit was settled.

The idiots at China-Mart actually thought you could hire some pimply faced kid or some elderly geriatric at $5 an hour that could sell guns and follow the rules. We all know people who don't follow the rules and don't go to bed on time and don't eat their vegetables are the kind of folks who end up working at CHINA-MART. I think mothers now even yell at their children with threats that they will have to work at CHINA-MART when they grow up if they don't stop misbehaving.

Now in the Red states where everyone owns a gun and dads gave their sons proper training in handling a firearm, then I can see in those states that you can hire someone for $5 an hour to sell firearms. Here in CA the kids are taught firearms are toys (like video games) and cheque, gangsta, a chick magnet, and when you have a gun you don't need to follow the rules. No doubt CHINA-MART was going to get into trouble hiring from this work force to sell firearms.

Martinez did sell ammo till they wanted to open additional stores in CoCo and Alameda so they agreed as a condition of opening more stores (Richmond cried, belly ached, and pouted the loudest) to not sell ammo. That was like 4+ years ago I think so it has been a long time.
