View Full Version : STG58

Just finished my first 2 STG58 Kalifornia legal builds. Made on Entreprise type 3 receivers and STG58 all matching, excelent condition parts kits I bought from DSA in 2004/2005. I used the DSA HTS, gas piston, pistol grip and Falcon arms magizine bottom. With the fixed 10 round mag they shoot well as of the first shoot.

Nice work; I need to get a new set of handguards (can you believe the brazing on the nut portion of the left handguard cracked) then I need to find a set of the factory bipod; my barrel is cut for it but like a fool I sold it to a friend waaaaaaay back when he and I put ours together. I'm using a set of kludged L1A1 handguards right now. They work just fine and in fact I like that the black plastic matches the pistol grip and stock of the STG; plus those metal handguards get HOT!

Nice job - How hard was it to build on the Entreprise receivers? I've heard pros and cons. I've been thinking about building a FAL, but the DSA receivers are a little (read a lot) more than I'd like to spend.

Did you have to de-mil the kit; was the barrel still screwed into the receiver stub?

Just to know for my future project how did you afix the magazine in place? If you dont mind my asking.

The Entreprise receivers went together with no issues. The barrell still had the stub on it but a couple minutes with a dremell and it came right off. To fix the mags I used 2 diffrent methods, #1 was drilled and tapped for an allen head screw and #2 i used a small machine screw to fix it. Took it and flattened of the head and just put in in the hole where the spring goes and put it together. I will use this method on any more builds as all it takes is removing the screw and putting the spring back in to restore it to a non-Kalifornia gun.

Pic's of the Kalifornia compliant mag lock,
I will make you one for $39.99 + 12.95 S&H or you can go to the hardware store and spend 2 cents and around 5 minutes with a dremell and you are ready to go. But if you act now I will include 2 more " Kalifornia approved FN-FAL mag lock's" and all the metal shavings that come off the screw and the actual dremell tool that cut it for shipping and processing ($39.99).
If you would like better pic's PM me and I will see if I can do better, new to digital cameras.

Man I miss the days of unissued STG58 kits for $200 and imbels for $200. You could build a nice FAL for less than $500.
