View Full Version : Why won't some people ship to C&R FFL 03?

I've seen a few guns on gb lately that I have thought about bidding on. All are >50 years old, making them C&R. When I ask the question about shipping to an FFL 03, some sellers say: "I only ship to FFL 01 dealers, even if it is a C&R gun."
I don't understand this thinking. Can someone explain it to me?
Thanks,
Dan

Because they don't have to. Some are too ignorant and lazy to figure out what is eligible and what isn't. You should take pleasure in seeing items unsold and relisted over and over because the seller is putting unnecessary restrictions and limitations on who / where he will send it. Just take your gun buying dollars elsewhere. GB has lots of CA friendly sellers. Others will also change their mind if you send them a polite note stating that it is legal to ship the item here

That is, assuming you have a COE in addition to you 03 FFL.....

I normally mention that I have a COE, though only California sellers are affected. Still no shippy.

I had a dealer in Illinois tell me an ATF rep. told them they could not ship a C&R shotgun to a C&R license holder. I went round and round with them over this before finally convincing the dealer that the weapon qualified as C&R (Browning A-5 manufactured in 1929) and that there were no restrictions in their state (which I researched extensively) or mine (2013) that prohibited it.
From that point on their auction listings then said "absolutely no sales to C&R"

I'd like to list some auction items and in the terms state that I don't sell to pawns of gun-grabbers who support the anti-agenda by refusing to ship legal firearms to California. They should be shipping as many here as possible while they still can.
I've won a few of those back and forths, but also have a negative GB feedback from someone who said they'd ship to a C&R and then refused to do so since I was in CA. They said they'd ship to a dealer, but that would add a couple hundred to my cost after tax and DROS.

Thanks for the replies. I thought I might have missed something obvious.
Guess not.
Given the $100+ cost increase, gas, and time using an FFL when I don't need to, I sure won't be bidding on a C&R gun that could be shipped to me but the seller requires an FFL. Bad business on their part, but life goes on...

By the COE.
That you as a BUYER must have to legally receive and self register a long gun shipped to you from out of state or purchased in state from a non 01 FFL.

I heard from a friend who's neighbor's uncle used to be a cop
He said AR pistols are banned. So Mr. And Mrs. America....TURN EM IN.

Folks won't ship to us in this state because our laws are so restrictive and always changing. Can't blame them really. How many times do you run into folks from THIS state who don't have a total grasp on our idiotic laws?

Some dealers won't even ship black powder firearms or even parts. They hate California so much they won't even politely tell you why other than tell you to vote out the bums controlling your state.

Weapons of war like that are exactly why these laws are in place. If I arrest just one less gangbanger with a Belgian Nagant Revolver in his waistband, it will all have been worth it.

Wow, I came all the way over here to say the same thing.
I refuse to ship to people that refuse to ship.

I asked GB if there was a way for me to create a "Do not shop" or "Ignore" list for all those sellers that refuse to sell to CA so I do not bother them as some get a little snotty when I ask, and I always ask, if they accept CA C&R with COE, some do but a growing number do not. I get it, they do not have to do it but instead of bothering them or buying a non-firearm item from them I would like to avoid them all together. I have had some grudgingly agree to sell then see the rest of their sales change and specifically state no CA sales at all.

It's not just California. I live in a free state, and some refuse to ship to a C&R no matter where you live. Seen that on the auctions.
CDNN, will not ship ANYTHING to a C&R if it is C&R eligible. ONLY to FFL 1. But they rarely have C&R guns, mostly new.

Well a few years ago there was a gun store in Round Hill NV that only sold antiques cuz they had their 01 FFL yanked by the ATF. Some guy went in bought an antique pistol, had ammo for it and promptly went down the road a mile and a half and robbed the Wells Fargo Bank.
