Wow, i'm actually shocked turner's didn't tag them at $700 or something.

They had them at $399 last week. I got a tip from one of the salesman that told me to wait because the 225s would be going on sale soon.

Just talked to one salesman at Pasadena that said they have 120 available. Unfortunately they only have one display. After you place your order they pull your pistol from their central warehouse so you really don't know what you get till its there.

I believe after 30 days you have to DROS again anyway.

Pay for the P6 now, completely fll out the DROS, but not have Turners start the DROS until 10-11 days before you are back in town. Dunno if that is possible.

HELP~~Quick question......

If i started a Handgun Dros yesterday from an out of state transfer. Can i pay for the p6 and then come back 30 days later and start the DROS for the p6?

would turners allow that?

ke6guj

You would need to ask them that if you did a layaway, would it lock in the $299 price?

dvsdev
05-29-2008, 12:33 PM
I think you can pay for the gun and put in on layaway (a minimum down payment required), then come back when your 30 days is over and do the DROS. That is what I did during their 25% back sale.

It is really good price - lowest I saw it on the net is for $250 ( I think ) with AIM having them at $269.
Count shipping and transfer fees and you are above $300 easily.

Exactly,
The only draw back is you may not be able to ask them to hand-select the Sig.

Correct, you can not hand select. To answer your question the display I saw was CAI marked. Just went on my lunch break and bought one. $355.14 OTD.

I did not bring my C&R and COE with me, but I did ask the question. The salesman at the counter said he had heard of the exemption but "it would be up to his manager." (Thought about buying two, but property taxes, insurance, registration, the list goes on.) :p

Apparently the Pasadena store has 120 in their inventory. Some come with holsters and some don't. I don't really care for a holster but some might.

You would need to ask them that if you did a layaway, would it lock in the $299 price?

I overheard a conversation. One guy forgot to bring a second proof of residence. The salesman told him if he put down 25% they would lock in the $299 price until he came back.

The folks just offered me upcoming sale price of $299 after I asked about it. Bought one today and started the DROS at the Tusin store, $360 OTD. The deal seems too sweet to pass up.

They checked invetory for me at 6:00pm. They said about 25 were already allocated and they've got 500 in warehouse.

Think these will be gone @Turners fast?

Sometimes it pays off to wait. I remember jumping on the Turners sale in Nov 2006 when the P6 was $399 (down from $450). I told a buddy at work that he has to get the $300 Sig. I hope he takes my advice. I think he wants a S&W revolver since he already has a 92FS but I'll keep convincing him.

I talked to the manager and asked if I could reserve one for the sale that starts tomorrow. He told me since I was there and had cash in hand he would allow me to buy and start DROS today.

I also asked if I could hand pick the gun and he said they are all at their wherehouse and I'd get what I'd get. He said he was at the wherehouse this morning and looked in several of the boxes and they were all in as good of shape as the one they had on display. He even let me pull the slide off and check the internals. It was at about 90%+ on the outside and at least 95% on the inside. He also looked up the stock and told me the entire chain had 165 of them at the wherehouse.

The one I looked at had C.A.I. markings and he said they were all the same.

So, I also got one today, $354 and some change at the Berdoo store. Danged 10 wait crap!!!

The ones that Turner's had back in February this year were P.W. imports. The most recent ones this time around are, C.A.I. I'm told that the P.W.'s came in at a higher price.

Well it looks like I know where my 25% gift card is going now. Pefect timing too, since I've been waiting for a P6 group buy to happen again. The only question is, should I buy one or two? Is this a screaming "buy as many as you can" deal or a "pick one up if you have money to spare" deal. Cheapest price I've found was on AIM for $269, which comes out to probably the same price as turners once you factor in shipping and FFL.

The importer buys the guns overseas, then stamps either C.A.I or PW on them? Otherwise same guns?

Can I assume the pricing differences are (mostly) market driven?

The bore will most likely be excellent, just holster wear usually. You can have a gunsmith refinish it. CCR can refinish the slide for about $100 including shipping to and from their shop. They're great people.

If you put one on layaway then you are assured of getting one. If you look at your receipt it will have a serial number for the pistol you bought. The way the guy explained it, it didn't matter if you paid in full or layaway. A serial number and pistol is sent to the store from the warehouse with your info on it. When you finish your layaway they will start your DROS. I elected to pay in full so I can get it in my hands faster. Either way, you are locked in for sure.
As for a next shipment, the sales guys were all bragging how they bought 2 or whatever. It sure sounded like either they will not have another shipment or the sales guys had no behind the scenes knowledge of another shipment.

Comes with two mags, leather holster and mag carrier. Extra mags can be had off Gunbroker, etc...

Also, I have to admit, I had a very positive sale at this Corona Turners in over 19 years of going to various Turners stores. The last purchase done in Norwalk Turners over 16 years ago. I hope this is an indication of how they will be in the future.

well he went to the computer to lock in my order and lo and behold, he found one that hadn't been put on hold/purchased. As posted they are expecting a new shipment coming in. The Turner's in Orange had no idea when they would arrive though. They would take deposits now and sell them for the sale price. Luckily, I got to the store about opening time and I was able to buy the display gun which looked to be in good shape. Good for me!! Oh yeah, one of the Turner's employees suggested they were getting in like 5000 or something that just had to clear through customs. Yeah, sure. Even another employee was laughing at that. Even when this sale started yesterday they apparently only had 120 in total stock according to their computer.

yes the ones that were imported via Redmond, WA came with a higher price tag, $350, one magazine, no holster.
Then Centruy imported another batch and was letting them go for 250$, 2 mags, holster, and in much better condition.
Really killed the dealers that bought a bunch of the first ones and still have them

For folks complaining about not having a Turners near them, will A.I.M. ship to CA?
If not and you need help let me know, I have shipped some to Sacremento and Bakersfield and don't mind helping folks out. Basically you buy it from AIM, ship to me here in CO. Then you pay me 25 to reship to you. If you have an FFL that will do a cheep transfer for you it might be an option.

I have been doing this for CGN folks with OLLs, AK, Saigas, SIGs, etc

I had purchased a bunch (50) of new SIG mags when the first batch of P5s came in. They were 25$ea. I sold them all with the P6s I sold, but I can see if the same source has more.

They are 6rd mags so they don't need to be turned into re-build kits I believe.

I bought one at West Covina Friday night. The salesman did the computer work really quickly. Another salesman was having trouble getting finished with the computer work for another customer. The other customer's order went through maybe 1 or 2 minutes after mine and came back with "no more in inventory". All the salesman looked at me, pointed at me, and said "You got the last one."

Anyway, I decided I wanted 2 of them so I went back tonight (Monday) and locked one in at the sale price of $299 from the next batch. I was told the next batch is 2 months out.

Yeah thats understandable, they do have to give $25 to the state and can tack on $10 more if they want. I do respect stores that only charge the $25 they have to send in.

I also am leery of stores that nickel and dime and charge the full $35 on a DROS. I don't mean on a PPT, I mean when you are buying a gun from the dealers inventory, yeah I just dropped $500-1500 in your store, make sure to charge me an extra $10!:(

looking at my paperwork, it looks like $30 total in fees.

DOJ DROS fee $19
DOJ safety fee $1
DOJ Eq fee $5
Turner's handling fee $5

Same here. $30 Dros Fee.

I also am leery of stores that nickel and dime and charge the full $35 on a DROS. I don't mean on a PPT, I mean when you are buying a gun from the dealers inventory, yeah I just dropped $500-1500 in your store, make sure to charge me an extra $10!

That is why I usually pay cash for just about every gun I buy. Most of the smaller non-chain stores will not only pay your dros but depening on the gun may knock the sales tax off for you if you pay cash. You usually have a lot more leverage to negotiate when the store isn't getting dinged for the credit card transaction or has to take something to the bank to deposit. ;)

Don't forget the extra $6-$10 for a gunlock, unless you've bought one within 30 days of drosing your new handgun.;)

Why not just fill out the safe Affidavit? Or have I missed something since the last time I bought a pistol?

Yup, you missed something. There was a new Federal law that requres handgun locks be supplied with the handgun purchase. There is no exemption for having a safe at home, so the safe affidavid doesn't work anymore for handgun purchases.

I just bought a new pistol and it came with what looked like a padlock - except it had a cable instead of a U shaped piece of metal - is that what you are talking about?

So people in CA can only buy a gun every 30 days, but when another gun is bought a new lock has to be purchased less than 30 days ago? Was that done on purpose so gun has a lock? Or is that just to fill up the land fills?

?

When you buy lock at Turner's or anyother dealer. Get it in seperate receipt.
Then you can return the lock (not on same day just to be safe) for refund/store credit and buy more ammo with that money. :D

Picked up my P6 today. Minor holster wear on the slide, lower almost looks new.

11/79 date code, so I think it has the early feed ramps. I'll have to shoot it and see how it works.

It came with the right hand holster, so anybody in the IE that gets stuck with a lefty holster, I'll trade you.

Had problems with my C&R being acceptable for proof of residency. It was fine to start the paperwork, but on pickup, manager said it wasn't. Had them look up the PC and they apparantly called DOJ who said that it was OK this time, but in the future, I would need a COE to use the C&R as proof of residency. grr, thats not what the PC and supporting regs say.

Commencing January 1, 2003, no handgun may be delivered unless the purchaser, transferee, or person being loaned the firearm presents documentation indicating that he or she is a California resident. Satisfactory documentation shall include a utility bill from within the last three months, a residential lease, a property deed, or military permanent duty station orders indicating assignment within this state, or other evidence of residency as permitted by the Department of Justice. The firearms dealer shall retain a photocopy of the documentation as proof of compliance with this requirement.

http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/regs/chapter4.pdf is the supporting regulation.

4045:Definitions and Requirements.
The following definitions and requirements apply to documents intended to serve as evidence of residency for the acquisition of a handgun pursuant to Penal Code section 12071(b)(8)(C):

d. "Other evidence of residency as permitted by the Department of Justice" means either of the following:
1. A current, government-issued (city, county, special district, state, or federal) license, permit, or registration, other than a California Driver License or California Identification Card, that has a specified expiration date or period of validity. The license, permit, or registration must bear the individual's name and either of the following:
A. The individual's current residential address as declared on the Dealer's Record of Sale (DROS) form.
B. The individual's address as it appears on his or her California Driver License or California Identification Card, or change of address attachment thereto.A C&R FFL should qualify.

I'm gonna print off a copy of the regs and drop them off at Turners. But as they said, they have to go by what DOJ says, it's their license on the line. But I think published regs should override a verbal reg given over the phone.

Picked my P6 up yesterday and I have to say it was in much better condition than I thought. Barrel looked almost completely unused 99%, the frame was in about 95% condition and the slide was a good 85%. Not a bad little pistol for $350. Came with a blue plastic sig box, right hand holster and a mag pouch.

So overall, what would you rate this "buy" for the price and all????? What do you guys think?

maxicon
06-11-2008, 2:49 PM
If you compare it to what else you can get for $350 in a 9mm, it's an excellent buy from pretty much any angle. The only other quality 9mms in that price range are going to be Ruger P series, and maybe the occasional well-used CZ75 or beater Glock 17, but those are pretty rare these days.

I'm pretty pleased with mine, and I'm not a Sig koolaid drinker. The only downsides are expensive mags and no reasonably priced rubber grips.

My experience with great prices on good quality import surplus guns is that they'll be stable for a while, but once the supply dries up, they'll be heading north, just like the $129 Yugo SKS, the $125 CZ52, etc. These guns are going to be selling for $450 in 2-3 years, guaranteed (unless there are enough that the surplus places still have them by then).

12Many,

Greetings from Signal Hill, CA! Regarding your question about the piece of paper with "waffenrevision 2006 durchgefuhrt" that came with your P6, according to my high school German, "waffenrevision" translates to weapon revision, 2006 is simply the year, and "durchgefuhrt" translates to realized, carried out (adj., like a table) or implemented. Hope this answers your question and here's a big shout out to my teacher Frau Clement, Long Beach Poly HS, class of 1968!

P.S. I'm on the waiting list for my P6 at Turner's Signal Hill.

The guy with the beard you are probably referring to is Hispanic. There is a Arab working there but he is clean shaven and he is cool. The Hispanic "Muslim" used to work at the infamous Western Auto in Bell. He was being a ***** last time I was in Nwk Turners for various reasons. One being that I inplied I was going to call corporate if he didn't at least try to have a gun sent in to NWK from the Turners online gun rack.

He was being lazy and didn't want to do it on a gun that could be shipped in and making up rules as he went. Got a good deal one time because of him though, he mispriced a used gun once for the same price Turners bought it for:) Their loss was my gain.

Thats cool you got to hand select your P6, I wonder why he cared? Probably wanted to let a buddy get 1st pick, Nwk and most Turners are infamous for such as this.
