Wanted to share some "B" barrel goodness. The m39 I purchased a couple years ago from gunboardforums. The m91 I scored earlier this month right here on calguns! Being B barrel post war rifles the barrels are pristine compared to any of my other Mosins.

Nice "B" barrels, jthesby!

I've got an M39 "B" and several M91 "B" barrels--- great rifles.

Yeah, last thing you need is ANOTHER Finn!

The B barrel Finns are an interesting subset of Finnish rifles. My B barrel M39 has a plum colored bluing. The M91's are normal colored, but two of them have the Liege proof marks on them, while the third one does not.

Why do lot of people refer to the M39 as a Mosin Nagant ? The M39 is a breed of its own.

Well, they are Mosin Nagants...perhaps the best Mosin Nagants...

Exactly, one could say they are the pinnacle of the Mosin Nagant platform.

I agree svt40, the plum looks great! The only plum on my m39 is the rear sight spring.

Because-- AFAIK-- once you strip out all the M39ness, you're still looking at a straightforward mosin nagant receiver.

My B barrel M39 has the plum colored barrel. But that color is also found on some other Finnish rifles. My Tikka barreled 91/30 is also plum colored.

What year is the tang on y'alls receivers?

Also, what's the inside of the M39 barrel look like for you all?

Besides the rifling looking sharp, I noticed that my M39 has a reddish tint to the grooves. I always use hot water after each range use whenever I shoot corrosive ammo and I've dropped a wet patch of Hoppe 9 and let it sit whenever I've cleaned it but every once in awhile when I check the barrel it's got the reddish tint to the grooves and I'm scared it's actually rust or something...it sits in a safe with the usual dehumidifier stuff.

How's it shoot?

My 1941 M39 is a tack driver, I just image how good yours must shoot!
"B" Barrel Finns are highly-highly sought after - well done sir!

Yeah, the m39 shoots better than I for sure! It's a 1905 Tula receiver. I haven't removed the m91 from it's stock yet, but I believe the gentleman I bought it from believed it was 1907, he never shot it, the barrel is absolutely beautiful. My other Mosins no matter what I use and how much I clean I can never get a clean patch out of them. That isn't the case with these two, I think the only mosin I have close to these barrel wise is my PU.

Haven't noticed a reddish hue, I'll have to look next time.

I'd like to see some more pics of all of your "b" barrels!

Be careful when you remove the rifle from the stock. I disassembled one of my Tika 91/30's and let several shims fall out. I think I put them back correctly. :)
