Hi All

Just curious how many here are m14/m14sa/m1a owners.

I have a few and love em, love the look, the feel and the sound of shooting my beloved rifle.
I love to see some pic's of your rifle, so here is one of mine.
http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g49/baker1972/allthepics468.jpg

what about a m14 shoot that would be fun 20 or 30 m14 types at the range all at one time.

Cheers

Will

Don't want this to be an m14 v AR thread either, so please don't beat that dead horse. :)

I have an M-14 type or two.
It's my favorite of all the battle rifles I've shot or owned.
Powerful and accurate, what's not to like?
I'd be up for a shoot if it's reasonably close to Sac.
Anybody else want to chime in?

NM SA M1A. Git some. That was me making hits on the gong at 300yrds shot after shot iron sights shooting 168gr BTHP molys at a certain range last weekend. I live to watch the M14 Nam cut on the American Rifleman intro.

My M1A is the neatest sounding, consistently accurate and hardest hitting rifle I have ever shot that's in one package.

Pics in the future.

I have a June of 1985 Springfield M1A National Match. It is in need of some new glass bedding and a tune up, but I love it so. It still cranks out 2MOA groups at 100 yards with open sights and a lousy rest.

SOCOM II here. Not very happy with it's performance yet because I have a cheessy Aimpoint COMPM3 4MOA red dot on it and I am not really sure of it's long range accuracy. What I do need is suggestions for a good glass to go on it where I can shoot at 200 yards. Why only 200 yards? Too lazy to walk any further to set up targets..

First one is a Fulton Armory Peerless in a NM profile walnut stock with a Krieger heavy barrel, Smith extended bolt stop, and a Smith muzzle brake.

http://home.comcast.net/~swedish_chef/stuff/ForumStuff/m1a.jpg

Second is a Ted Brown build on a rear lugged LRB M25 receiver, all TRW parts, Criterion medium weight barrel, Sadlak TiN gas piston, Sadlak NM spring guide, Smith extended bolt stop, Smith muzzle brake, JAE stock, IOR "Sniper's Hide" edition scope.

http://home.comcast.net/~swedish_chef/stuff/ForumStuff/m251.jpg
http://home.comcast.net/~swedish_chef/stuff/ForumStuff/m252.jpg

I've got enough USGI parts in the safe to build 3 more minus receivers and barrels. Eventually I'd like to build a standard GI configuration and also an 18" shorty, both on LRB receivers, but I'm planning on building 1 or 2 AR10's first.

Love those guns! Lou B. makes a great M-14 and M-25 action at LRB -- I just can't afford one! Put that JAE on gunbroker and get a Gen ii -- you'll really notice a difference in the cheekpiece! And IOR makes a great 30mm scope! here's my Socom II with a short IOR 1.1-4x on it --

I still have your TFL build, although it's currently living in a nice wood stock at the moment. That is why god invented the bore-snake. I usually just do the bore snake thing and do a complete cleaning about every 500 rounds. Only cleaned it completely once so far. Going on 750 rounds for me and 200 for the original owner I believe.

Ah! I was beginning to think that you guys ONLY owned 223 OLLs! The sweet smell of M-14s! Yaya!

FYI when I was selling a gen one JAE stock on Ebay I said it fit Springfield M1-As, LRB M-14s, M-25s, and THEY PULLED MY AUCTION!

They told me that the M-14 was an "assault rifle" and they (Post Virginia tech) in the "Ebay community" felt society was better off without Assault weapons! Did the kid have an AW? I thought he had a GLOCK and a Walther P-22?

Anyway, I pointed out that they had JUST sold one for 830 dollars the week before -- but the guy said that listing hadn't said that it would fit an M-14 so it was okay! They have curtailed any sales of parts that can go on AWs (as they define from case to case) I understand why -- the families of the VT kids are suing their butts, but kids, the CAMEL HAS HIS SHOULDERS UNDER THE TENT.

If Barack gets in the white house (with depressed Repubs staying home and a landslide of Dem voters wanting to make "history") the Camel is up all of our butts.

I sold it on gunbroker for $650 (a loss) and have cut back my Ebaying...

Got 2, ones a socomII with tripower and 3X EOTECH extender, took it out last wednsday to finally adjust this combo. using 147 grain serb ammo function was flawless and accuracy was good. Hits on gongs at 100, 200,300 and 400 were quite easy with this setup. tripower adjusted for battle range 0 to 300. still need to modify one of my spare stocks to be a little shorter for correct eye relief since mines does not have the extended rail setup. Ive got mine mounted on a mountsplus mount to jump the gap over the receiver. 2ND one fed ord. m14

Scout.
Sadlak AI mount
Sadlak Guide rod
m1acheekpad.com pad...
Rounded rubber buttpad
synthetic black 1907 sling
Leupold Vari-X III Tactical scope (pre vxiii stock) 3.5-10x40

At some point probably rip off the useless scout mount and get a standard handguard. Unfortunately, EBR syndrome kinda took over so focusing on that, and busy with work....

Iron, what is wrong with that receiver?

not sure it was sold to me as OUT OF SPEC. not really sure got it cheap with the understanding that I would not try to build a rifle out of it.

Heres mine. Have tried different optice, But the aimpoint seem to do the trick out to 450 yards with ease. Not sub moa but can kill a 15 inch x 15 inch target at that range with ease. I wish I had purchase more mags back in the day. Most of mine are rusted and look like crap but work.

Be careful with the bulk 7.62 ammo. Sometimes they're cleaned up machine gun rounds. I've found tracers in them - the bad way - particularly the loose in box ammo from ammoman.

Yeah -- I love that loaded with the extended cluster rails' lines, too -- but if you want to scope it, you HAVE to restock it or strap one of those aftermarket cheekpieces on, and then the grace (yeah, the M-14 is graceful) is gone.

That's why I tried it in this --

Crap… at today’s prices, that much ammo is worth more than the weapon.

Guys,

Just had the damnest thing happen, I bought an M1A from Ammo Bros, serial number 2049XX, standard walnut. THEN, I bought a loaded standard walnut from a dealer up north in Redding, and its number is 1949xx. Exactly 10,000 serial numbers apart, I looked their respective headspace tags, 2049xx was born 8-13-2007, 1949xx was born 12-12-06. 9 months and one day apart, how often does this happen. Thanks, USMCM16A2
