Couldn't find anything through search, but I could have sworn I read somewhere that CMMG anodizes under the FSB.

Is that correct?

Thx.

I think you mean parkerize. Yes, they do parkerize under the FSB.

Thank you kindly. That's excellent news.

Theres a chart somewhere that compares the features of all the major brands.

The chart is the center of alot of controversy btw, so dont take it too seriously. Lemme dig it up for ya.

Got it!! Enjoy

Yeah, there's a lot of controversy over the inaccuracy of that chart.

What's the big deal about parkerization under the FSB? Does it offer any real functional advantage, or just indicate the manufacturer's general attention to detail (or lack of)?

That's an OLD version of the chart.
It gets updated every few weeks as things are confirmed or proven wrong.
That particular one is from November 2007.
The latest version is from May 23rd I think.

I know the chart is misleading; I believe I mentioned that in my first post.

The only real advantage you get with park under the FSB is if you put another one on there is no ugly un-parked bits

It's almost impossible to swap front sight bases.
Replacing a front sight base with a gas block is what usually happens.

I read the LMT line with interest.

LMT's don't necessarily have M16 BCGs, it's an option. My 16 inch M4 upper has a SA BCG. ( And it's staked really nicely. :) )

My carbine has an H buffer. In fact, that's the only option listed in their online catalog.

Granted, my rifle is a put together, but it's all LMT aside from a CMMG lower and an Armalite LPK.

I've got a CMMG upper that I got recently that I can take pics of if you're interested.

To the original poster:

Yes, CMMG does parkrize where under FSB. I've dis-assembled a lot of CMMG barrel assemblies so I know it.

The LMT barrels are without parkerized under FSB. I've also dis-assembled a lot so I know.

No matter those bands are parkerized or not, if you install a gas block smaller (shorter) than the FSB, the drilled holes would appear.
