Hey again! So I got my new Comp C3's 2x mag & I really like what I see so far. I tried to mount it on my new CMMG upper outfitted with a Troy 13.5" handguard & flip front & rear sights (front is handguard mounted), but it sits too low with the supplied mount. I have to really cram my cheek far into the stock to see through it! Not comfortable. Anyway, I was hoping that some of you could tell me from experience what would be a good height mount for it. I don't want to play the guessing game & end up with a pile of useless mounts. Also, should I get a rail riser or a new taller mount? Brands & part #'s would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

I just went through this myself. You need one of these:

LaRue mounts are definitely the way to go. You won't be disappointed.

I dunno yet - I'm still waiting to get mine. I'm buying it off of another member on this forum and I just sent him the money, so I expect to have it by some time next week.

As I understand it, the red dot should sit right on top of the tip of the front sight post - anyone more experienced please correct me if I'm wrong.

I (very crudely) photoshopped what I expect to see:

^^^ That's not quite right. The cantilever mount is the same height as the other mounts shown above, so it will give you a 1/3 co-wittiness. That means that the iron sights will line up 1/3 of the way up the field of view in your Aimpoint, just like in the pictures above. Now, as you look through your Aimpoint, you'll notice that if you move your head around, the red dot will move in relation to the rest of the sight in order to remain centered on the same target. So if you move your eye down relative to your sight and center the iron sights, you'll notice that the red dot now sits right on your front sight, giving you a co-wittiness. Now move you eye vertically and the red dot will track back up to the center of the sight, just like in the pictures above.

I really like the 1/3 co-witness. It leaves most of my Aimpoint field of view open for tracking and target acquisition, but still places the irons so they can be seen without removing the optic.
