Felon accompining a hunter on a hunt?

Well last year my hunting partner hit someone while DUI. He pleaded guilty and now has a felony on his record. Can he still accompany me in the field while hunting, as long as he is not hunting and does not have a gun.

I believe so. infact he can even hunt provided he deosnt use a firearm. crossbow or bow and arrow hunt would be good.
