Yes - sorry, not necessarily gun related.

But with so many counterfeit parts with fake stamps on them turning up - for the G41 and G43 series especially, but also the MP44 and MG42 -

Ebay, Gunbroker, it is frustrating - yours truly just bought a small lot of parts, almost half of which were post war fake items by a German called Tom Fried - beautifully made, they still work, but fit and finish was just "wrong" and had me go on a two week internet hunt to find the source.
*A German collector (Claus Espeholz) who runs an information site finally gave me the answer.

On that note -
Here is an ingenious use of a Mauser stamp -

What's more desirable and marketable than a Nazi marked firearm? Nazi marked gold! Not surprised that the counterfeiting lowlifes have tried their hand at trying to produce authentic looking Third Reich bullion.

A slight change after rereading my post.

Tom Fried produces incredible reproduction parts for collectors to restore expensive WW2 rifles, he sold them as such.
I was sold them as "original NOS" by a third party - that third party may well not have known they were reproduction - which is how I care to leave it.

With the exception of receivers and handgrips there were enough spare parts in the Haenel factory at the end of the war to field 80,000 STG rifles. (Sturmgewehr! Collector's Grade Publications)
All these parts went to either the US who had the factory first, or the Russians who took it over. There could easily still be NOS parts available.

Amazingly, some people are going to skip over the other posts about the fake stamping of gold bars and will start posting their theories about how the fake stampings on the M1 Carbine could be real, even though there is no way they could be.

Great new color for Crayola Crayons "Nazi Gold."
