There's probably no selector switch. I'm told there was a time where the National Match M14's were available for civilians through the CMP. They were semi-only.

That first photo is wonderful. That LOOKS like a selector switch on the side of the receiver there....

You may very well be right. I've never seen one with a selector switch. I fellow down at the club has a M14 'National Match' he got from CMP years ago. It only fires semi-auto. (He said they were available for a short time). Still, beautiful rifle.

Could be a dummy selector. There's quite a market for them.

Beautiful rifle.

That Winchester rcvr was part of the infamous "MKS" debacle--rewelded/
remanufactured from destroyed/demilled original M14 rcvrs-that rcvr was PERFECT
you could see no evidence of the rework--unfortunately after the GOVT
gave the blessing to remanufacture--they reniggged and confiscated the
rcvrs they could FIND---mine was found and I had to surrender it.If you
have a home, family, good job,you don't fick with the govt on these type issues. So I lost $500 on the rcvr,I got my moneys worth, had it for 2years
and put about 2000 rds of FMJ thru it---never failed to fire--shot 2" 5shot groups
at 100 yds all day long. Funny the ATF never found the "H&R" rcvrs!!!!

Beautiful rifle and sorry that you had to give her up. I had a chance to fire two different original M14's over the years. Both were made by H&R and both had the a happy switch :). I found them to both to be exceptional weapons and even though I have very little trigger time behind them I was able to consistently get off 2-3 shot bursts on target. I would have liked to empty a mag but I'm sure the owner would not have liked that.

Unfortunately, once it say M14 on the receiver it falls into the "Once a machinegun always a machine gun" rule. They can be had but prices are high.
