Update: 06/25/08 - We have both the 10/20 and 10/30 PMAGs back in stock

Magpul 10/30 magazines (http://riflegear.com/p-358-magpul-pmag-10-round-30-body-magazine-223556mm.aspx)

http://riflegear.com/images/PRODUCT/large/358.jpg
I got some of these in stock now and will be ready to ship by Monday. I currently only have Black in stock but will be getting the other colors in soon. These are limited to 10 rounds by utilizing a full-width, skeletonized, polymer block that is epoxied in place. All the original parts are still maintained and the magazine is indistinguishable from the original. Price is set at $25.99. The item is on the webiste and taking orders now.

The block is epoxied to the follower, not the mag body, so they are still able to be taken apart and cleaned right?

shark92651
05-16-2008, 6:53 PM
No, this design will not allow disassembly for cleaning. I don't see how just a longer follower, which could be easily replaced, could be considered a permenant modification. I guess that is where your cut down version has the disassembly/cleaning advantage.

When I did the cut-down ones, they will actually hold 11 rounds with a standard follower.
The follower gets a plug epoxied into it that limits travel about 1/4".
After that, they only held 10 rounds.
You could do the same thing on these with just a longer plug and a blind pin.
The blind-pinned spacer would be pretty permanent, requiring machine work to make them hold more than 10 rounds.

Mr. Shark: If these are successful, and you do another round, definitely count me in for a few in dark earth color--I'll be standing by, and checking out Riflegear periodically.

(Thanks for all the successful orders I've already gotten, BTW!)

Nope, the bottom plate is secured to the interlocking internal bottom plate (whatever that piece is called) with epoxy.

picked up 2 tonight! Looks good. Can't tell by looking at them that they are anything different than a regular 20rnd pmag. Obviously haven't used them yet, but loads up 10rnds and no more than that, jsut like its supposed to.

Ordered 3 of these yesterday, got them at my doorstep today! I know I am close by, but jees! I expected at least a couple days! Thanks you guys!

This is a quality mag. Ran trials on my Sabre Defence lower, and everything checks out great! They hold exactly 10 rounds, and the storage caps fit perfectly with a loaded mag. I just ordered 4 more!!!

Thank you for everybody's support and feedback. Our first batch of PMAG has sold out in 10 days!!! We will be able to fill orders came in tonight but that's it. We will let you know as soon as we receive next shipment from Magpul. We will introduce PMAG 10/30 mags very soon. And Flat Dark Earth color will be available too. :)

I installed one of these mags in my AR this weekend. The fit and finish are top notch and a big improvement over my Bushmaster 10/20 mag that would only hold nine rounds and was a pain to load because of the crappy follower.

I'll be ordering more 10/20 Magpul PMAGs when they get in.

We don't have an update - it's up to Magpul to get these things out (and the MOE grips, and the UBRs, and the trigger guards, and....) The demand is much greater than the supply right now and any estimate they give us we take with a grain of salt.

We have about only 25 of PMAG ranger plates in stock, which is not enough to cover our current backorders. We have an order with Magpul but I am not sure when they will ship it to us. If you would like to receive the shipment right away, it's probably better if you order one without a ranger plate right now.....

We have no idea when we will receive anything from Magpul until we get a shipping notice. We received the 20 rounders today and have started blocking them - back-orders will start to go out in the next day or so. The 30 rounders are coming in Monday and then we will start to block and ship back-orders on those early next week. We are undecided if we will be selling rebuild kits at this time as we want to make sure we take care of all our 10/20 and 10/30 customers first.

We are undecided if we will be selling rebuild kits at this time as we want to make sure we take care of all our 10/20 and 10/30 customers first.

The BEAUTY of the rebuild kits is they can be either rebuilds OR 10/30's that we can build ourselves. ;)

The downside to rebuild kits is that they're a giant legal liability as they reside in a decidedly gray area that tinges on black. I can understand a reputable shop that we all enjoy shopping at hesitating in selling something that can be construed in many different ways by people less knowledgeable.

We have PMag 30's in house now. We are starting to block them to 10/30's and will be filling online back-orders first before we mark them as "in stock". Right now the bottleneck is converting them to 10 rounders but we are making progress.

We don't have any more ranger floorplates. No ETA on them either.

We don't have any FDE magazines. No ETA on them either.

We have plenty of 30 round black pmags which we're working on converting to 10/30's. Once we cover all the back orders, we will see how many we have left.

The law is clear on spare parts for existing high-cap mag repairs. They're legal. If you as the buyer violate the law, that's on you.

Riflegear has a large-capacity magazine permit that is issued and pulled at the whim of the BOF/DOJ.

If Riflegear, a CA company, started selling rebuild kits then the DOJ could very well decide to pull their large-capacity magazine permit with no notice and only for the reason that they feel like it. This would seriously impact their business, as well as give them a black mark in the face of the DOJ/BOF. Not good for an FFL holder.

I don't believe that it is a prudent business decision for *ANY* california company to engage in the selling of rebuild kits. Leave it to the companies out of state that have no legal liability with CA.

I've heard good things about running them in a dishwasher, but there might be lead or heavy metal contamination issues. Also, I would worry about them not drying out properly.

Why not configure the 10/30's so that the baseplate can be removed? This enables you to clean a bit better. The spring is still unable to be removed but you can still get out the bulky stuff since you have access to both ends.

Sorry to necropost, but if we wash them with soap and water, how do we prevent the spring from rusting?

I've got about ten 10/30's that I need to clean. Dirt and oil get everywhere during training.

Riflegear
08-24-2010, 12:35 PM
There are probably a number of ways. Best way I can think of is clean it out as best you can with soap and water, dry it out as quickly as possible with some hot air, and then slosh some CLP around the inside of the mag, let it drip off, and then dry them again with hot air. The CLP may not be a perfect rust preventative but it will do a better job than letting them dry from water. If there's oil in the mag in the first place, maybe clean with something like MPro7 instead of water.

1surfguy
08-30-2010, 7:20 AM
Just an idea. It seems like you all have some good ways to clean out the dirt and oils but are concerned with rusting if you rinse out the washed mechanism with water.

After the rinse out with water, couldn't you just soak the magazine in some quick dry non-water solvent like rubbing alcohol? The final soak with the rubbing alcohol should replace any leftover water in the mechanism (and minimze rusting possibilites), then you just drain the magazine of any left over solvent and it should dry pretty quicky without rusting. I use this technique on electronics that accidentially get exposed to water to prevent rusting or corrosion damage.

I bought 3 10/30 Pmags and after 2 years and much much use I was able to force a 11th round in the mag. The 11th round would fit but it would be very very tight and almost impossible to use in a rifle. But since we live in CA I wanted to be on the safe side.I called Rifle Gear and was told to send them back and they would take care of it. While on the phone they also told me to include a receipt of the shipping so they could refund me the shipping $$$. I told them it was OK and as long as they fix the mags there was no need to send me the shipping $$$. Once they got my mags they sent me new replacements mags with next day delivery. I'm very happy with the service and the new mags I got. I would highly recommend this company to everyone

Hah... not to dilute the awesomeness of VickG818's experience, but we were unaware of the age of the mags when he brought them in... rather than send him home empty handed we honored the fix anyway. We still run a warranty on our mags but past a certain age, you should expect the magazines to wear out to some extent. We can usually repair them and make them hold 10 rounds properly but do also remember springs and followers can wear out as well. As a last word, always be sure to check your magazines periodically and make sure they only hold 10 cartridges and no more.
